Re: 2024 All Year Fantasy Competition

This week has been the second lowest score of 2024 with just 237 points shared between 4 players so more of a round up this week than a Top 3 or 5.

Seems a very common occurrence to top socre one week and then finish rock bottom the week after, such was the fate of Harry Brook who scored 387 points last week and a mere 25 this. Despite this he moves up 2 places on the overall list past Moeen and Jaiswal into 8th.

Another big scorer last week was Queensland's newest captain Marnus Labuschagne, he sheds 181 points from his score last week and posts 31 in his single One-Day Cup outing this week.

Chamari Athapaththu finishes a hugely disapointing T20 World Cup with her best scor eof the tournament; 65 in a dead rubber against New Zealand.

Our week is rounded off by Usman Khawaja who is coming into form in as we move closer to the end of the year. Our bottom placed cricketer gets his first cricketer of the Week award this year and third of all time, courtesy of a top score of 76 against Western Australia. He also scores his first Striek Rate points; now only Simon Harmer has none.

Overall List

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 4010 - A hugely disapointing T20 World Cup sees her retake top spot for the fourth time this year, but with just a 40 point lead her chances of finishing the year in top spot are diminishing.

2. James Vince - 3970 - Inactive this week and with seemingly no cricket until the Abu Dhabi T10 at the end of November. He deos have a cushion of 424 points on third though.

3. Travis Head - 3546 - Inactive this week but lots of cricket looms on the horizon, especially after signing on with the Adelaide Strikers in the BBL.

4. Sam Curran - 3156 - Inactive again and hard to see where his next cricket comes from before the BBL.

5. Babar Azam - 3106 - Shockingly inactive and will remain so until at least the start of November. One good performance from Marnus Labushagne below him and he loses his Top 5 berth.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 174.34 (Down from 179.32)
2. Babar Azam - 135.04
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5

Chamari Athapaththu's average drops the most for the second week on the trot whilst Usman Khawaja sees a rare improvement to his average; however his 66.27 points per week is still the very worst.

Weekly Top 5

1. Rachin Ravindra - 243 - Reminded everyone of his Test acumen with his second century in 11 matches and against India no less.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 213 - His third 200+ score in 6 weeks and plenty more Cricket in the bank for the Aussie.

3. Ravindra Jadeja - 155 - Of course Jadeja ends up in the Top 5 in a week where he plays a test match. it's just what happens.

4. Usman Khawaja - 141 - Such has been his poor year that 141 is his highest score of 2024. He has scored 372 points in the last 3 weeks, which is more then he scored between the end of January and the start of October.

5. Steve Smith - 119 - Disappointed in the Sheffield Shield (23 points; 20 points in the field) but bolstered his score with 56 runs in the One-Day Cup.

Overall Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 4010 - Will be chomping at the bit to start playing for the Sydney Thunder in the WBBL on Monday. Will she be able to dominate a franchise tournament in a way that she has failed to do previously and continue her reign at the top of the table.

2. James Vince - 3970 - Inactive for 3 successive weeks for only the second time this year. He does have a considerable amount of cricket on the horizon though. The inaugural Global Super League finishes a week before the BBL starts, so the Hampshire skipper should be available.

3. Travis Head - 3546 - Has a 390 point lead but has jeopardised his place as he will miss the upcoming white-ball series against Pakistan to spend time with his family ahead of the high-stakes five-Test series against India, starting November 22 in Perth.

4. Sam Curran - 3156 - His fifth inactive week. He will not see a fifth as the White Ball series against West Indies starts on Thursday.

5. Marnus Labuschagne - 3130 - Has breached a Top 5 that has had the same five figures in it for the last 11 weeks. He regains the 5th place spot he lost nearly 3 months ago.

Other Movers

A meagre score of 58 was the fourth lowest of the week but still sess Jaiswal move up to the 8th place that Brook dumped him out of last week.

Ones To Watch

Jaiswal has the smallest gap of anyone on the List (19 away from Harmer) and is currently in action against New Zealand.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 174.34
2. Babar Azam - 135.04
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5

Usman Khawaja's average improves the most for the second week in a row; up 11.2 in the last fortnight. Daryl Mitchell's already meagre average depreciates the most - down to 80.47 - only Hardie, Marsh and Khawaja have worse.

Overall Top 5

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 240 - His second Cricketer of the Week award but 240 isn't the eye-wateringly high numbers he is capable of. Still he moves up a place to 12th, overtaking Phil Salt in the process.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 205 - Hasn't produced one big performance in the WBBL yet but instead three alright ones...all adds up though.

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 157 - One OK innings and one decent one is enough to see him in bronze medal position for the week and move up a place on the O Overall list to 7th. He has held that position for 7 weeks in the last 13 but never got higher.

4. Rachin Ravindra - 104 - A more pedestrian week for Rachin than last week's. Despite this he adds a further 74 runs to his burgeoning Test career and moves to 10th on the Overall List.

5. Daryl Mitchell - 86 - Probably one of the more disappointing players on our List manages to pop his head up in the Top 5 for a rare decent outing. He has also moves up to 18th place, seems unlikely he'll go much higher this year though with 399 between him and Kohli.

Overall Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 4215 - An interesting run in is on the horizon. With the WBBL completed before the BBL kicks off, it is an exercise to see hoe many points she can put between herself and Vince. That gap currently stands at 245.

2. James Vince - 3970 - While some corners of the world call for his return to the England ODI side, Vince remains inactive for a fourth week. He has not been inactive longer than this all year.

3. Travis Head - 3546 - Enjoying another week of rest before potentially opening against India in the Test series.

4. Sam Curran - 3193 - His return to cricket is a meagre one, registering 37 points in the first ODI against West Indies. Needs to be looking over his shoulder with 5th place just 63 points away.

5. Marnus Labuschagne - 3130 - Priming himself for the Test against India where he will prop up a middle order that might be called on sooner than many would like.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 175.63 (Up from 174.34)
2. Babar Azam - 135.04
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5

Jadeja's weekly high score improves his average the most - up 5.57 to 122.95. His team mate Kohli drops the most, down 4.06 to 99.24.

Weekly Top 5

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 340 - A Test match, even a surprising loss, is Jadeja's bread and butter. Two fiverfers are not to be sniffed at - nor is Jadeja's progress. He has moved up from 13th two weeks ago to 7th now.

2. Phil Salt - 203 - Every now and then Phil Salt comes along with a huge score. This was one of those week with 133 runs across two ODIs. He moves up from 13th last week to 9th this week.

3. Daryl Mitchell - 173 - A largely underwhelming year for Mitchell but played a starring role in one of New Zealand's most historic Tests. Moves up one place to 18th.

4. Sam Curran - 142 - One of the more senior players in England's rookie ODI sides and showed he could be depended on. 92 runs for the Surrey and England man.

5. Shubman Gill - 121 - Put on a decent 90 in the first dig against New Zealand but then let himself down with a mere 1 run in the second. Moves up a spot to 14th on the Overall List.

Overall Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 4318 - Just the one WBBL game for the Sri Lankan this week that yielded 103 runs. Her lead on the rest of the pack is now 348.

2. James Vince - 3970 - Inactive again....and will be again for the next fortnight. Will he still be second by then? Has a lead of 424.

3. Travis Head - 3546 - Inactive this week....but with a decent excuse. His second child was born this week. No points for that though.

4. Sam Curran - 3335 - He got the fourth highest score of the week and remains fourth this week. Lots more cricket for him in the Caribbean.

5. Babar Azam - 3178 - Did not take too kindly to being binned out of the Test team - nor did he like being out of the Top 5. Back in at the first opportunity that he had....but just 6 points ahead of Marnus.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 177.72 (Down from 175.63)
2. Babar Azam - 132.42 (Down from 135.04)
3. Ravindra Jadeja 132.39 (Up from 122.95)

For the second week in a row, Jadeja's average improves the most and Kohli depreciates the most. Jadeja has improved his average by 15.01 points in the last fortnight, whilst Kohli's have gone by 7.89.

Weekly Top 5

1. Phil Salt - 197 - If Salt played in the Carribean every week he might put on Lara like figures. He finishes in first place this week for the second time in 2024. He also moves up to 7th place overall; his highest position in 2 months. He has never been higher.

2. Jos Buttler - 2261 - 20 weeks out of cricket ended disappointingly for Buttler with a golden duck in his first innings. Made that up with 87 more runs in the other two games....fairly unevenly spread mind.

3. Daryl Mitchell - 149 - Not gargantuan figures for Mitchell on his return to domestic cricket; especially when you consider 40% of this came from his bowling figures from a meagre 14 overs. All the points count though.

4. Chamari Athapaththu - 142 - Not producing blistering performances in the WBBL but sheer weight of matches helps put her in a fairly low scoring Top 5 this week.

5. Glenn Maxwell - 84 - The runt of the Top 5 litter this week is Maxwel who scores 58 points fewer than fourth place. Is especially lucky to be here considering he scored a big fat zero in the final ODI against Pakistan.

Overall Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 4460 - With every passing week of WBBL action she puts herself further away from second place. Her gap is now up to 490. The only gap bigger is between Smith and Khawaja at the other end of the table.

2. James Vince - 3970 - About to enter his final week of inactivity before some rare T10 action. Is very well insulated in silver place; he has 490 above him and 424 below him.

3. Travis Head - 3546 - His fourth week inactive is his joint longest period of fallow time. Next week's fifth inactive week will be his last.

4. Sam Curran - 3406 - 71 points this week narrowed the gap on third place to 167 but that isn't nearly enough to broach a Top Three that is looking pretty untouchable with a month of the competion left.

5. Babar Azam - 3239 - Only 61 points this week but that makes the gap between him and Labuschagne very very very tight instead of just very very very very tight. 67 points seperate.

Other Movers

A mere 27 points for Wellington in the Plunket Shield was enough to see Rachin Ravindra breach the Top 10 again.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 171.54 (Down from 172.72)
2. Jos Buttler - 133 (Up from 131.5)
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 132.39.

For the first time in record two players have decreased by the same amount. Aaron Hardie & Rachin Ravindra are both down by 2.97 to 74.36 & 104.22 respectively. Phil Salt is up the most to breach the 100 point a week mark.

Overall Top 5

1. Jos Buttler - 310 - An astonishing week for Buttler who followed up a fairly decent return to International colours with two absolutely stonking T10 innings for Deccan Gladiators; 64 from 24 and 60 from 22. This is his highest weekly score of the year.

2. Phil Salt - 296 - Finished his tour of West Indies well (55 runs) then started the Abu Dhabi T10 well (53 runs). He also managed 70 points from Strike Rate to take him clear of Travis Head as the highest point scorer on that attribute.

3. Aaron Hardie - 138 - Had a pretty solid white ball series against Pakistan and seems a fairly solid member of the Australia team now. Showed his all round acumen with a decent 28 in the penultimate ODI and then a three-fer in the final outing. Moves up a place to 19th in the Overall List.

4. Chamari Athapaththu - 88 - Still failing to impress with the bat but doing decent work with the ball and is up amongst the highest wicket takers in the WBBL.

5. Babar Azam - 64 - Ends the tour of Australia with one decent innings of 41 to just sneak in a rather underwhelming total for a fifth place weekly finish.

Overall Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 4548 - With one more week of WBBL action, Athapaththu did the only thing she has to do and outscored second place by 31 points. The gap is now 521. Will it be enough?

2. James Vince - 4077 - Returns from his longest spell of inactivity to get 57 in a single game for Delhi in the Abu Dhabi T10. Still plenty to go and then the BBL. He has 481 points to third; so it looks like he will finish on the podium this year.

3. Travis Head - 3546 - Currently featuring in a cracking Test against India. His points will update next week.

4. Sam Curran - 3460 - Was solid rather than explosive during the tour of the West Indies. 71 to round it off and he holds 4th for the 10th week.

5. Phil Salt - 3349 - A month ago he was 13th but now has rocketed into his highest position this year just as we approach the final straight. There is a lot of T10 cricket on the schedule for him and the has 111 points between him and 4th and 197 between him and third. Anything is possible.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 168.44 (Down from 171.54)
2. Jos Buttler - 142.83 (Up from 133)
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 132.39.

A narrowing at the top this week as first placed Athapaththu's average drops the most (-3.1) whilst Buttler's improves the most (+9.83).
