Which is why I thought I might qualify for bonuses for the above. But, sigh.

It wasn't to be.

Maybe this week is my week.

I don't think that will be me in that case.

I had a look and I don't think my first choice is listed in the Rotten Tomatoes Top 100 animated films.

Which means that you will likely win!

Think we had this category last time and my selection of the time tanked.

Nominations for week 5 are as follows ;

Option one - Akira

Akira is a 1988 Japanese science fiction anime film directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, produced by Ryohei Suzuki and Shunzo Kato and written by Otomo and Izo Hashimoto, based on Otomo's manga of the same name.

The film depicts a dystopian, cyberpunk-based Tokyo in 2019, focusing on teenage biker Tetsuo Shima and his leader, Shotaro Kaneda. Because of Tetsuo's superpowers, Kaneda, resistance terrorist Kei, Colonel Shikishima of the JSDF and a trio of espers, attempt to prevent Tetsuo from releasing the imprisoned psychic, Akira. While most of the character designs and settings were adapted from the manga, the plot differs considerably and prunes much of the last half of Akira.

The film has garnered a large cult following since its theatrical release, and is widely considered to be a landmark in Japanese animation. It is considered by many critics to be one of the greatest animated and science fiction movies of all time.

Option two - The Curse of the Were-Rabbit

Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is a 2005 British stop-motion animated comedy drama film, produced by Aardman Animations[1][2] in partnership with DreamWorks Animation. United International Pictures distributed the film in the United Kingdom, and it was the last DreamWorks animated film to be distributed by DreamWorks Pictures in the United States.1 It was directed by Nick Park and Steve Box as the second feature-length film by Aardman after Chicken Run (2000).

The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is based on the Wallace and Gromit short film series, created by Park. The film follows eccentric inventor Wallace (voiced by Peter Sallis) and his mute and intelligent dog, Gromit, as they come to the rescue of the residents of a village which is being plagued by a mutant rabbit before an annual vegetable competition.

The film introduces a number of new characters, and features a voice cast including Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes. It was a critical and commercial success, and won a number of film awards including the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, making it the second film from DreamWorks Animation to win (after Shrek), as well as both the second non-American animated film and second non-computer animated film to have received this achievement (after Spirited Away). It is also the only stop-motion film to win the award.

Option Three - The Fantastic Mr Fox

Fantastic Mr. Fox is a 2009 American stop-motion animated comedy film based on Roald Dahl's children's novel of the same name. The film is about a fox who steals food each night from three mean and wealthy farmers. They are fed up with Mr. Fox's theft and try to kill him, so they dig their way into the foxes' home, but the animals are able to outwit the farmers and live underground.

Produced by Indian Paintbrush and Regency Enterprises, and released in the autumn of 2009, the film stars the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, Michael Gambon, and Owen Wilson. For director Wes Anderson, it was his first animated film and first film adaptation.

Development on the project began in 2004 as collaboration between Anderson and Henry Selick (who worked with Anderson on the 2004 film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou) under Revolution Studios. In 2007, Revolution folded, Selick left to direct Coraline, and work on the film moved to 20th Century Fox. Production began in London in 2007. It was released on November 13, 2009 to positive reviews.[2]
