Lots of people seem to assume Bell is going to play a full season? He stated as far as im aware he wants to play tests, are England going to drop him this summer if he scores runs early?

With how the domestic fixtures are structured this year, worse case scenario is Ian Bell missing five rounds of County Championship cricket and that's if he plays all seven tests this summer.

Since Ian Bell was omitted, England look a lot better in the middle order and neither Compton, Root, Taylor, Stokes or Bairstow deserved to be immediately dropped. Then you have Borthwick, Ballance and Vince in the background if they are also amongst the runs.

I reckon that England have called time on Bello, and only a catastrophic summer will make them think about a recall. Captaincy of Warks ought to see him continue to play this season rather than think about retirement

Benefits outweigh the risks for me. Ian Bell has retired from limited overs internationals and is practically guaranteed to score 1000 CC runs, even if he does play all seven summer tests.
