I'm a victim of my own success, the Yorkshire selection policy got Yorkshire results but instead of title glory it was Cricket Australia sniffing around and stealing my players for international matches

I was sweating a bit in the middle when injuries started to dent the team but it all worked out. Not picking Lynn and Watson turned out to be a mistake - I was sure they'd be in the Aus squad if they were going well so it didn't seem worth picking them - but Aus selectors had different ideas!

There have been three or four Big Bash FLs and I have been second in all of them. :

My anticipation of Stars being in finals almost worked.

Yes, I did not anticipate that Hastings and Boland woulg get international call. Also thought players would be released for last stages like in last year Big Bash. However there is no place for ifs and buts in FL and the better selector wins.

It is very tough to overtake Red in cricket FLs. The cricket FLs win gap is just not getting closed between me and him.

Overall, I make it 35 titles for me and 20 to you, which seems like a big gap. However, you didn't join CMS till late 2009. So, if we only look at titles from 2010 onwards then it is 28 versus 20, which is not such a big gap.

Also, not every title is the same. Winning bilateral test series or ODI series doesn't mean anything like as much (in my opinion) as winning a large multi-team tournament like the Big Bash, Sheffield Shield, County Championship divisions, IPL, World Cups etc - so that makes comparison even harder!

Note that DFM only seems to bother winning these type of FL's so he obviously shares that view!

Last year was my worst year in terms of those types of competitions so it's good to get this win under my belt.

I do.

I occasionally put a team in for internationals, but I much prefer 11 player FL's to 5 + 2's, and I get the most satisfaction from winning season-long FL's
