So we're about halfway. Shows how out of touch I am, I thought Steve Smith still did IPL and played T20s for Australia. Rather than being semi-retired in all formats.

Harry Brook is in 19th place averaging 53 in T20s at 150SR, and nearly 80 in FC..

James Vince is 3rd having a highest score of 40 in a flop year in the PSL, did rubbish in the blast, only has one score in the CC in 7 games, and averaged under 30 in a league where the best bowler of the year didnt make the Afghanistan T20 WC team...

So next year I just need to pick someone who is aimlessly rubbish in as many leagues as possible?

After last week's record breaking points tally of 2061 points; this week we have the third lowest at 870. Interestingly the average points per active player was the highest so far this year standing at a huge 217.5.

Here's a round up of all the action:

The lowest score of the week came from the best performer in the T20 World Cup final. His 70 against south Africa in the final saw him lift the trophy but finish with the wooden spoon this week.

Next up was Simon Harmer who has registered his fifth straight week of three figure scores when he is playing red ball cricket. Worryingly he now turns back to the white ball he only averages 21.33 per week. He moves up two places and cracks into the Top Ten overall.

Marnus Labuschagne continues his fine spell of form for Glamorgan with another huge score. He has now scored 545 points over the least fortnight and moved from 14th to 7th.

After having a mediocre year with of cricket, Vince has had a phenomenal fortnight culminating in a double tonne against Kent. He has now scored 701 points over the last fortnight. If he can continue this in White Ball Cricket we might be cooking something here.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 2647 - Another inactive week for Babar Azam and his lead is now down to a mere 14 points. You feel like his 20 week spell in top spot may come to an end soon.

2. James Vince - 2633 - His 701 points over the last two weeks saw him jump up a place each week to land in his highest position for 13 weeks.

3. Chamari Athapaththtu - 2574 - Inactive again this week and drops down to third place. Should play a key part of The Women's Hundred but that is still two weeks away.

4. Jos Buttler - Holds 4th place for a second week but mainly down to zero pressure from below.

5. Travis Head - 2002 - Another week in fifth place, however is one of FOUR players on our List to be turning out for the Washington Freedom in the Major League Cricket tournament that starts tonight.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 183.86
2. Babar Azam - 155.71
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5

James Vince's average swells the most; up 10.63 to 119. 68. Nobody moves down at all this week.

But unfair.on my boy Vincey.

Has played the highest number of weeks (sure) but has the 5th highest average of any player.

Would still be top 5 even if he had 5 weeks inactive

Isnt that more to do with the bias in scoring that occurs between T20 and other formats due to the high SR bonus? A T20 batter who scores 20 each innings at a run a ball will score a 40 points per game, which the same as a FC bat averaging 40 at SR79. One represents a player who would be unselectable for a T20 side, the other would represent a performance way above average. The SR bonus for T20s is basically automatic, because only one player in the top 200 T20 scorers in 2024 does not go above SR100, and ironically he would still get a bonus of 10 per innings for a SR of 97 (shanto of BD).

Vince for instance in both average and SR this year is well below elite level. Mid 20s average at SR120... you have to go long down the list of top run scorers to find a player who hits so low on both metrics. And yet from that take the first two T20 competitions he played.... he would have averaged 47 points over the Gulf/PSL in 21 outings on batting alone. Which is almost exactly equivalent to a FC batter averaging 47 over a season under SR of 80. The latter would be on par with the second best career average of anyone in CC, the former isn't top 50 in T20 in the world right now in combination of metrics. Multipled over available matches that imbalance plays out even more.

Someone like Litton Das or Aidan Markham who have had T20 horror show years would essentially still trump the best FC/test players having career years because their low 20 averages double up on SR bonus + frequency of matches.

I would guess that the best two available top T20 scorers in pure run amounts scored irrespective of SR or per innings average would form a team that would be close to top, or probably outright top....

But then again Babar Azam's T20 point scoring is probably impossible to beat.

Fair.....however if you look at those that have won before:

Harmer x 2
Maxwell
Labuschagne
Azam

There appears to be no set formula for success.

I was worried at one time we were too skewed towards all-rounders......but seemingly not.

In other news, this week's update is going to be on Saturday morning as I have Year 11 Prom tonight.......something which, as you can imagine, I am very excited by.

It does mean that tonight's Blast players will be included.

Turns out I did have time

Weekly Top 5

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 196 - Largely here courtesy of one stonking all round feat against Essex earlier in the week. His 30 from 26 balls and 3 wickets earned him 70% of his score this week. Incidentally 50 of the remainder of his points came from Fielding.

2. Shubman Gill - 159 - Back in the points after 7 weeks away. Was 9th when he took his Post-IPL break and was 14th overall last week. This week's knocks against Zimbabwe sees him up a place to 13th.

3. Aaron Hardie - 145 - Broke a 15 week spell of inactivity off this week with a foray in the MLC. Got 2 wickets in his fist game against Los Angeles and then a knock of 34 in his final game against San Francisco.

4. Steve Smith - 118 - Resurrected after a period of slumber Rip Van Winkle would be proud of. Was let down by the washing out of the game against Texas which would have been enough to see him probably nick 2nd place.

5. Harry Brook - 90 - Obviously wasn't the most headline grabbing name coming out of the England Test but certainly caught the eye with a decent fifty.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 2695 - Lost first place in late February but has been waiting in the shadows like a stealthy ninja for his time to strike....and this week was his time.

2. Babar Azam - 2647 - Inactive again this week and lsoes his spot at the pinnacle of our list.

3. Chamari Athapaththu - 2574 - Inactive once more but has a healthy cushion of nearly half a thousand points between her and fourth place.

4. Jos Buttler - 2104 - Should be looking over his shoulder whilst simultaneously looking forward to The Hundred. This three week spell in 4th is the longest time he has held any position so far this year.

5. Marnus Labuschagne - 2081 - Continues his rapid ascent up the table. Was 18th placed 5 weeks ago and now is making his first appearance in the Top 5 since his victorious year in 2021.

Other Movers

Simon Harmer forces his customary 'Summertime' agenda and moves up two spots to 8th despite 66 points this week.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 183.86
2. Babar Azam - 155.71
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5

Aaron Hardie had the second lowest average at the start of the week, he now has the 5th lowest at 75.91 - up 6.91. Vince drops down by 2.51 eating into his 10.63 increase of the week prior.

Weekly Top 5

1. Sam Curran - 301 - Before this week, Curran's best score of the week was 176, this week he nearly doubled that courtesy of 161 runs in 2 games in the T20 Blast. Becomes the third player to win three Cricketers of the Week across more than one year alongside Head and Handscomb.

2. Travis Head - 208 - Two identical scores in two MLC games this week. He scored 54 at a SR of 150+ scoring 104 points against Los Angeles and then scored 54 at a SR of 150+ scoring 104 points against New York. Consistent.

3. Moeen Ali - 195 - Enjoying his domestic cricket once more...but has very much been helped by the fact he has played three games across the week. His high point was 59 off the bat against Derbyshire.

4. Marnus Labuschagne - 173 - Continues his love affair with the English domestic game with his fourth successive score of 100 or more. Since joining up with Glamorgan he has averaged 171.77 points a week.

5. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 165 - Was lighting up our lists on a week by week basis before his total omission from a majority of the T20 World Cup. Is now back in fine fettle most notably in his score of 93 against Zimbabwe this week.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 2833 - A second week in top spot this week courtesy of his fifth 100+ scoring week since the start of the English Domestic season.

2. Babar Azam - 2647 - Only bottom placed Usman Khawaja has been inactive longer than Babar Azam, he spends another week in second after losing top spot last week.

3. Chamari Athapaththu - 2574 - Inactive again this week but will be back in action in the Women's Asia Cup this week. Will be looking up the table rather than down due to the 73 point gap to 2nd slightly more pressing than the 320 gap below her.

4. Marnus Labuschagne - 2254 - Has inflated his total by 1546 in the ten weeks since the start of the English Domestic season. Jumps up another place to 4th.

5. Travis Head - 2221 - Spent a solitary week out of 5th spot before reclaiming it again this week. He has spent 6 weeks in 5th place this year. Three further weeks and he usurps Jadeja who has spent 9 weeks there.

Other Movers

Rachin Ravindra moves up two places to 10th whilst Phil Salt nudges further back into the Top Ten again; up one to 9th.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 183.86
2. Babar Azam - 155.71
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5

Sam Curran improves his average by 12.15 thanks to his stellar week - after a pretty unstellar year. Aaron Hardie is the only player shoe average goes down - decreasing by 2.7 to 73.25; the second to worst average of anyone.
