And someone scoring a fifty gets more points than a player scoring 49. You're never going to get a fair system.

Let's leave it alone then but this is a discussion and I thought I was allowed to join in.

Sorry, wasn't saying otherwise, just pointing out there are quite a few anomalies, and it's almost impossible to get it right, rather like Duckworth/Lewis.

Cricket is a 'landmarks' game, of course, whether it be 50's 100's or 5fers (the only person who remembers a 99 is Shane Warne), so I see no reason why a fantasy league shouldn't also reward landmarks

As long as they are same for everyone i dont mind the scoring points. But it would be nice to highlight the changed rules in bold in OP of FL threads for next few FL's.

we changed the wickets from 25 to 20 points, to make ODI FL's less bowler friendly

If there is a feeling for change, then I would support expanding the range of points available for bowlers ER (detailed earlier), and an increase in the minimum run requirement to 30 to qualify for a SR bonus

The only change that is REALLY necessary is my success rate. Any rule change that can improve that will be most welcome.

Hera are the Current Rules for ODI Fantasy Leagues amended January 2016

Scoring Format
Batting
For every run scored 1 point

+10 for every further increment of 50 scored.
Someone who has a strike rate of 80 plus he will get 10 additional points with 20 for a S/R of above 100, +30 for s/rate over 150, +40 for s/rate over 200 provided the batsman has scored at least 20 runs.

Bowling
20 pts per wicket plus
20pt bonus for a 3fer
30pt bonus for a 5fer
5pt bonus per maiden over
2 pt penalty per noball/wide bowled

If a bowler has an economy rate of<=4.0 and has bowled at least 3 overs, he will receive a 25 point bonus.

Is it time to think about changing the bonus points for bowler economy? Now that ODI scores are more regularly approaching or exceeding 400 should we start rewarding bowlers with economy rates of 6 or less and increase the bonus points for 5 and 4? 10, 20 and 30 bonus points, perhaps.

and should this thread be re-titled '50 over fantasy league rules', because I assume the idea is for domestic 50 over comps to use the same rules as ODI's?

Still not enough fro Jade Dernbach, Umesh Yadav, Vinay Kumar and Varun Aaron to earn economy rates bonus points. :scared

But yes, we need to change eco. bonus points as mentioned. :thumb
