MB One Day Cup Fantasy League

Postby Durhamfootman » Sun Sep 21, 2014 8:38 pm

Thought I might give this one a try and see how much interest there is for an Australian domestic competition

Rules are the same. 11 players, no substitutes, and no restrictions on who you can pick

Scoring

Batting
For every run scored 1 point
If a batsman scores 50 he will get an additional 20pts
If he scores 100 an additional 30pts, and 150 additional 40pts, etc
A player scoring 20 runs or more at a SR of 80-99 will earn 10 bonus points,
SR 100-149 earns 20pts, SR 150-199 earns 30pts,
SR 200-249 earns 40pts SR 250+ earns 50 pts

Bowling
20 pts per wicket
20pt bonus for a 3fer
30pt bonus for a 5fer
5pt bonus per maiden over
If a bowler has an economy rate of <=5.0 and has bowled min 4 overs, he will receive a 15pt bonus
If a bowler has an economy rate of <=4.0 and has bowled min 4 overs, he will receive a 25pt bonus

Fielding
10 points per catch or stumping
20 points per run out, or 10 points each, if two players share the responsibility
10 bonus points for 3 contributions with catches, stumpings or run outs.

Oddly enough, all the matches appear to take place on grounds in either Brisbane or Sydney, which I find a little puzzling.

Hopefully one of our antipodean cousins can explain if this is normal.

I'm looking forward to discovering how domestic cricket is done down under

well I have no idea. Aus internationals seem able to play because of the early season nature of the tournament, but that may not always be the case, so I'm just guessing, but for what it's worth, this is my first stab at a team, although it might very well change

And it would be most helpful if posters could indicate who their players play for, because I won't know, and it will save me having to do an awful lot of checking

Budget cut backs, I'd say. It seems to me that this format is the least important at domestic level, hence getting it over and done with at the start of the season. Staging it as a carnival in two cities cuts back massively on costs staging it. CA are effectively growing their audience for the Big Bash at the expense of this comp, which I think is a bit of a shame.

Incidently, the Oz tour of UAE is taking place during much of this comp, so the likes of Mitch Marsh, Warner, Finchy and Maxwell probably wouldn't be the best picks.

How was the tournament previously played? I would have thought co-inciding one day matches immediately after Sheffield Shield matches would be the most cost effective.
