there are a couple of them i already had pencilled in as themes, a couple i might use and a couple i will maybe tweak a bit

i'll start a thread once i have had a think about whether i need to make any changes to the scoring system to make it work better, any views on that are appreciated too

what i did for the movie cup was kinda like the old formula one scoring system where only the top 8 scored and i gave 10 to the winner, 8 to the second spot and then 6-1 for the rest. to determine the positions i gave 3 points to a first choice vote and 1 point to a second choice and just added up those points

it kept things close right til the end i suppose

one thing i was thinking about doing was having a joker card for everyone where they could pick one week to play their joker and that week they would get double points, so basically if you thought you had a great song for a particular theme you could play your joker when you nominate your song. you could only obviously play it once and wouldn't know whether there would be a later theme that you might like more so there would be a better one to save it for, or whether anyone else was playing their joker the same week

would be 8 rounds again and yes you would have to say up front when you nominate your song if you were playing it, so before you know what anyone else has picked for that week

was just thinking it might add an element of fun

edit : i would let you withdraw your joker if you didn't get your first choice of song tho

just to add the joker thing is just an idea, if people dont like it then i wont include it

what i want to try and do with themes is make sure there isn't a theme that has an obvious choice as it then becomes a case of whoever PMs me first gets it, so i wouldn't do xmas songs as everyone would nominate fairytale of new york

I'd personally think it best to keep scoring simple. Say every first vote is 2, secondary vote is 1. That way all votes count?

Joker adds another element but when ive done other comps with similar things, people always play them at last opportunity
