87 is winning 3-2 ....shall we say they win and join 2007 and move on?

1977 was my year zero. That was the best England side until the Vaughan XI. Soon to be wrecked by Packer defections. But that's a hell of a sixties side, so I'll have to look up their record.

The 77 side had just won in India and then outclassed a very good Australian outfit. Roope a couple of games, but in the third Ashes Test, Botham debuted and was an immediate hit. I reckon Chris Old played more than Lever, but either way, that was a brilliant attack, with Botham added. Geoff Miller would have played this year.

1967 was the year Boycott was dropped after scoring 246* against India.

England won two three Test series at home: against India (3-0), and Pakistan (2-0).

That was it! The toured WI after the new year.

1977 was the year Boycott came back against Australia with a ton at Trent Bridge.

They won 3-1 in India (the first Test was won in Dec 1976).

They lost the Centenary Test in Australia, featuring Randall's famous 174.

They beat Australia 3-0 in a five Test Ashes series.

They drew 0-0 in Pakistan without the Packer players to a home side with Miandad and Qadir.

67 clearly had stronger batting, but I'll pick 77 for that great attack and an impressive Ashes win.

Can't leave out the brilliant Mike Hendrick! The unluckiest bowler of all time.

One of the great slips too.
