rankings have changed dramatically since your opening post, Ian. for example Cilic is now top 5 and quite a few have changed FL groups. How would like us to proceed?

I always like to put these out at least a week before the tournament, for just this very reason. Rankings as listed please. Same will apply to the Open Golf later in July :)

It's not that rankings have changed (although some have, given that they change each Monday), it's that Wimbledon don't match their seedings to the rankings. That has been the case for as long as I can remember.

I believe Wimbledon's formula for the men's singles is to take total ranking points (ie over the past 12 months), then add 100% of ranking points gained from grass court tournaments over that same 12 month period, then add 50% of ranking points gained from grass court tournaments over the 12 month period prior to that. But only in relation to the top 32 seeds (ie their formula cannot lead to an unseeded player becoming a seeded player).

Hence Roger losing the World No.1 ranking last week wasn't ever going to cost him the number one seeding, for example.

(The logic being that rankings alone are mainly based on non-grass court results. So this formula of Wimbledon's helps to readdress the balance somewhat.)
