This is a new FL for us... please note the adjusted scoring system.... similar format to the men's but with lower economies and strike rates to reflect the anticipated lower scores

the Women's National Cricket League is a 50 over domestic competition

7 teams... the usual state sides plus the Australian Capital Territory women (ACT)

each team plays each other once over 3 distinct blocks.... 2 matches each in September, 2 in November, 2 in February plus a grand final, presumably between the top two sides

all squads can be found here

Am I taking a risk playing so many contracted players ahead of the international matches?

I've worked on the theory that international players may miss big chunks of this comp. Helpfully, the squad lists show who the CA players are, which makes a refreshing change
