Some big old scores in round one. Some of these players must have been itching to get going

Australia Pakistan series is keeping quite a few players otherwise occupied. Western Australia look particularly vulnerable to the baggy green, and unlike Surrey NSW they don't have a thousand other expensive players that they can replace them with

Australia has such a peculiar national glut of pace bowlers, much like the UK has of management consultants.

Many just about familiar names who might have made a national squad once or won an ODI cap. Mennie, George, Copeland, Tremain, Steketee, Sayers, Rainbird, Sandhu, Behrendorff. First class stalwarts. Everyone has one in their FL side, but it's probably like sticking a pin in the averages.

I've got Neser in that catagory.

I've gone with those that I think are least likely to get an international call up, but the way Tremain and Boland have started the season is making me nervous already. So unpredictable

Are they still using dukes balls for the shield, or was last year an ashes preparation one off?

Boland continues his impressive run of form with a 7fer in the first innings of his latest shield match.

Red doesn't have him, so I reckon Australia will call him up very soon

Western Australia only ever seem to have 1 player playing each week. This week it's Mitch 3's turn to use the bat and the ball
