All top 4 have almost similar teams.

Red as well as Red Jr. do not have Lyon, who imo will be key at Sydney. If Aussies win toss and bat first, then Lyon imo is liekly to gather loads of point.

Starc is key for me to win. If Aussies bowl last then that will boost his chances of getting good number of wickets. I expected Starc to run through the top order and it is indeed poor from a bowler of his quality not to be able to pick a fiver fer in home conditions whereas Jas, Shami, Pat have managed one 5 / 5+ wicket haul in innings. Even Ishant picked 4 in an innings. Starc has best of 3 fer iirc. He has been the udner performer, something which i did not expect given our opening combo and the fact that he would be bowling to them as opening bowler.

Rishabh Pant will earn keeping points in next test too. That is certain given the test matches this series. If he manages to score 30 odds in both innings in this test as well then i am going to need Starc to give a Cummins like bowling performance.

For both of us, we need just one player to fire. For Red and Red Jr. to win, they need both players to score loads of points as they are 100 behind.

Looks like me and the kid need both Pant and Starc to massively outperform Lyon so I think you're right - it's probably between you and Adi

Rishabh wins this for Alfie i think. Looks like a formality after a 150+ by Rishabh, catches to be taken. Whereas Starc continues to not make a major impact with the odd wicket here and there to his name.

And the winner is:

alfie 2826

Red Junior 2652 (Red Junior beats Red Devil on the tiebreak with Hazlewood v Finch in second reserve spot)
Red Devil 2652
meninblue 2645

durhamfootman 2477

GG Amir Sohail 2265

from the stands 2194
Arthur Crabtree 2163
ianp1970 2102

Alviro Patterson 1946

andy 1864
Dr Cricket 1836

mikesiva 1833

A close run thing, but Pant wins it for alfie in the end, while the reds just squeak ahead of meninblue. Well done alfie.

At the other end of the scale, Kuldeep finally comes good for andy, lifting him off bottom spot, and leaving poor mikesiva to pick up the wooden spoon, with Starc letting him (and quite a few other posters) down.

Bonus: The top five players/best team:

Pant 660
Lyon 653
Pujara 631
Cummins 581
Bumrah 570
Total 3095

alfie had four of the five, just Kohli instead of Pujara. Well played.

One could theoretically have squeaked a few more points by having Ashwin and Kuldeep in the five. A V+II of:

Pant
Lyon
Pujara
Ashwin
Kuldeep

Bumrah
Cummins

Would have earned 3294 points. But who could have predicted that Ashwin and Kuldeep would play one test each?

Funny how this game works - Pant and Lyon both outscored Pujara, despite the latter being player of the series. Pant was the most consistent, scoring over a hundred points every match, thanks to taking a lot of catches from the quicks. Starc was still the sixth highest scorer of the series, despite a performance that I think most would rank as pretty weak. Of pure batsmen, only Pujara and Kohli made the top ten (Kohli just snuck in at 10), the remaining places going to six bowlers and two wicketkeepers. All four Australian bowlers made the top 10, and only two Indian bowlers (Bumrah and Shami - Ishant finishes at number 12 behind Rahane).

Just goes to show what a bowler friendly series it was, but the game rewards individual exceptional performances (e.g. Cummins in Melbourne) far more than team results. C'est la vie.
