So let me get this straight.... I was 8th in the order, and got Williamson and Kohli? Christ, I think these were my top two picks!!

Ill take Williamsons 76 of 74 balls today!

Remember SP....All is now what meets the eye.

Kohli only finished 4th behind Harmer, Rashid and Patel...All of whom are retained. Williamson only finished 9th and never topped the weekly table.

Arthur, Buttler always does well in BBL. His only two cricketer of the week awards came from BBL...even his record breaking IPL outing didn't see him victorious.

So, essentially the bowlers must have huge advantages, because I think it was mentioned in the last test on comms that Kohlis 2018 haul could be, dependant on how you measure it, the 3rd most productive professional season anyone has ever had.

If 3415 runs dont win you it, then I am basically screwed.

Remember that was with the (now defunct) five points per maiden over.

Using Olivier as a watermark that's 15 fewer points per match.....many many fewer when it comes to County Championship hauls I suspect.

Looking at the figures, Harmer took 119 wickets in all formats. He played 19 FC games and 23 Limited overs ones, for a wicket average per game of 2.83. That means for every wicket taken by Harmer, Kohli scored 29 runs. Factor that up by his wicket per game, and to assume their performance was comparable, Kohli would have to score 82.07 runs every single game, regardless of format, to counter act those wickets assuming they performed to the same level.

They obviously didnt. At a pure guess say Kohli accounts for 60 percent of the points total (2000 total runs v 3415,roughly), or gained 5400 points, that would mean his performance rated at 72 percent of Harmers. That means to rate at Harmer, hed have to score actually 105 runs per game, or by total 4371 for the calendar year.

Now, Virat has untouchable averages in Limited overs. If he scored at the best career averages ever recorded in all his ipl games, T20Is and ODIs, he would have scored 2026 runs in the number of matches he played. That would leave him needing to score 180.5 runs per test match to draw with Harmer...... Don Bradman only managed 134 per test match.

So. In order for Kohli to win, hed have to have scored 700 more runs than anyone has ever managed in a season. Hed have to have performed to the level of the best T20 player ever, the best ODI player ever, then overcome the relatively minor task of outbatting a man who averaged the best part of 40 runs better than anyone ever managed, and add another 45 per test on top of that.

oh he did.

don't forget that this is a team game, SP, both players have to perform well across the year to have a chance of winning it. I picked domestic players last year because it seemed to me that they play many more matches than the top international players do. I picked Abbas this year because he's signed a full season contract with Leics for the months when Pakistan don't have any matches. I won't know whether this is a good strategy for many months yet

World cup year, so I think in those years you should still see IPL players getting upwards of 50 games in.

With WC, there will easily be 50+ matches for established international players this year considering that all countries now have their own T20 competition as well. Still not sure if anyoen plays more matches than Rashid Khan or ISmon Harmer or jeetan patel or other Kolpak players. There were news regarding sponsorship restriction of Kolpak players last year which CSA were going to impose. But doubt that is going to effect this year at least. SCA have habit ofpostponing everything...including their T20 league.
