Not long left in the year. Ladbrokes are already paying out on a DFM win.

Weekly Update

1. Peter Siddle - 190 - A fairly meagre weekly high score is enough to see Siddle claim his third Cricketer of the Week accolade in what has been a fairly calm week for the Cricketing world. Makes a huge five place leap in the overall list to 9th.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 156 - A Sheffield Shield and a Marsh Cup game in the same week would have seen Marnus hoping to score big; however his more modest totals sees him finish 'just' second.

3. Kane Williamson - 135 - Mr Second Place finishes third this week - he was the highest point scorer of the T20 World Cup Final though. He improved his overall score by 346 points across the competition but still stays in third bottom place overall.

4. David Warner - 103 - The T20 World Cup player of the series finishes the tournament with a fourth place finish off the back of his performance in the final. Scored the second most points of anyone on our List during the tournament but is STILL rock bottom overall.

5. Ravichandran Ashwin - 90 - Whilst his more 'glamorous' colleagues have a lay down, Ashwin is still plugging away against New Zealand. He has 360 more points than Kohli and 414 more than Bumrah.

Overall List

1. Simon Harmer - 4743 - Inactive this week but is due a fairly large haul of points in next week's update. We may be looking at Mr 2021.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 4683 - Not a box office week for Marnus but gets his gap on first place down to two figures again.

3. Babar Azam - 4061 - Just 8 points for him this week but is pretty safe in 3rd place. There are 622 points to 2nd place and 447 to fourth.

4. Joe Root - 3614 - "And time goes by so slowly/And time can do so much"

5. Moeen Ali - 3499 - Last week I erroneously said it was hard to see when Moeen would get any more points this year....clearly forgetting the Abu Dhabi T10. Expect some incoming SR points.

Peter Siddle's high scoring week sees his average up by 2.91 to 149.27. Steve Smith had the largest decrease in points for the week for the third update on the trot. This time it is worth 7.19 points; he is now down to 103.5

I saw that

hopefully he'll play less cricket once he joins up with ashes squad

a more modest return from Siddle, but regular 3 figure scores help keep the pot boiling for team DF

Weekly Update

1. Moeen Ali - 336 - Earlier on in the year Nicholas Pooran got a huge injection of points from the Abu Dhabi T10 League and now Moeen is doing the same thing. This is his highest weekly score of 2021.

2. Simon Harmer - 330 - A phenomenal game for the Titans against Western Province saw Harmer get a ten wicket haul. He was 6 points off top spot for the week. He has also taken over from Joe Root as the player with the most points in First Class cricket.

3. Marnus Labuschagne -193 - Back in the runs for Queensland and back in the Top 5 for the week however 198 isn't a huge score from a First Class and a List A game. He has, however, taken back his title of most runs scored in 2021 from Babar Azam.

4. Peter Siddle - 171 - Fresh from his table topping performance last week, Siddle got 5 wickets across two games this week for another 2 figure score and another Top 5 finish for the week.

5. Peter Handscomb - 102 - Back in action for the week and scored just enough to get into the top 5; however scored more points for catches in the field than he did for runs this week. Moves back up to 11th spot overall.

Overall List

1. Simon Harmer - 5073 - Just when it looks like Harmer will lose his top spot he pulls it out the fire. Another 330 points this week sees him 192 points clear.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 4881 - Can't seem to do quite enough to move back into first and with The Ashes round the corner he will not play as regularly as he has been for Queensland.

3. Babar Azam - 4090 - The Bangladesh tour was a disappointing one for Babar personally but third spot is still comfortably his.

4. Moeen Ali - 3835 - Moeen has been on an upward trajectory for the last 10 weeks and moves up to his highest spot of the year so far thanks to his performances for the Northern Warriors.

5. Joe Root - 3614 - Was technically in action this week although he did not bat nor bowl in the heavily curtailed England Warm-Up Game. He has not been this low on the list since the second week of the year.

Ones to Watch

Ravichandran Ashwin and Peter Siddle are in 8th and 9th and have 71 points between them. They will both be looking upwards to see who can overtake the inactive Nicholas Pooran who has a lead of just 158 over them.

Highest Players by Format

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 187.73 (Up from 187.32)
3. Joe Root - 157.13 (Down from 164.27)

It seems VERY harsh to call the England Warm-Up game an active week but thems the rules. Subsequently Ben Stokes' return to cricket has seen his average dip by 8.4 as he did nothing. Moeen's average bumps up 7.37 to 136.96.

ooh... very nice. I do like a half a thousand point haul

disappointing end for SRH's latest outing. After a few runs and a 3 fer with all the bonus points on days 1 to 3, the final day of his game was all set up for a target setting and a chance to skittle the opposition out..... no such luck.... no play today... presumably rain

No match for Titans in this coming week, so I'll have to settle for this week's 128 points whilst waiting for the Adelaide Strikers to get the veggie monster back in business

I might very well need every bit of the cushion that Harmer set up for me

Weekly Update

Only enough cricket this week for a top 3.

1. Ravichandaran Ashwin - 290 - A return to test cricket for Ashwin is a return to big hauls of points. Moves up to 7th in the Overall List.

2. Simon Harmer - 128 - Rain hampered Harmer from getting any more than 128 points this week. The Harmer train continues to rumble on though.

3. Moeen Ali - 118 - Despite Moeen's best efforts, his Northern Warriors side was knocked out of the Abu Dhabi T10 league prematurely meaning his points are down on last weeks table topping performance.

Overall Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 5201 - 6 weeks ago Harmer had a 2 point lead at the top of the table, his 4-Day Franchise campaign has seen that up to 279 with only 4 more updates left until the end of the year.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 4922 - Only 41 points this week from a Marsh Cup game. It is safe to say that Marnus will either finish first or second as he now holds a 809 point gap on third place.

3. Babar Azam - 4113 - test playing Babar is nowhere near white ball Babar in terms of impact. Azam has only scored 11.18% of his points in the longest form this year. Just 23 points for him this week but he remains third.

4. Moeen Ali - 3953 - Frowned upon by many but Moeen can credit the Abu Dhabi T10 league as the main reason why he has moved into 4th place. He has picked up 519 points across the 12 games and improved his SR points to the tune of 210.

5. Joe Root - 3614 - patiently waiting his turn but may find things a bit difficult. Is 339 points behind 4th and 499 behind third. Needs a big Ashes.

Ones to Watch

Virat Kohli is not doing hugely well in the ongoing Test but has just 3 points to overtake Peter Handscomb in 11th however both Handscomb and Maxwell are in BBL action this week.

Highest Players by Format

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 182.3 (Down from 187.73)
3. Joe Root - 157.13

Marnus' poor week has seen him fall away from Harmer as we reach the end. Ravichandran Ashwin's return to Test has reversed his rapidly descending average to the tune of 8.01 to the good.

SRH has one more 4 day game this year to bag some extra points, but that doesn't start until the 19th. Strikers have 7 BBL matches in December for the veggie monster to try and grab me a few more, but....... there are 3 full test matches for Junior's boys to shine.

I think this will go to the wire.

Weekly Update

Despite the best efforts of England to slip to a loss in two days, we have not had enough completed cricket this week for a Top 5 so another Top 3 it is:

1. Ravichandran Ashwin - 260 - Another metronomically excellent performance from Ashwin this week to claim his fifth Cricketer of the Week. Only Harmer and Labuschagne have more.

2. Peter Siddle - 130 - Two BBL games for Siddle saw him grab 4 wickets and keep him forcing his agenda at the bottom end of the Top 10. He is just 99 points off 8th placed Nicholas Pooran now.

3. Babar Azam - 126 - Test cricket has not looked too kindly on Babar this year however he finished the year with aplomb....and also that rare thing for him - a wicket.

Yearly Update

Only one of our Top 5 was in action this week; Azam's 126 puts him 286 points off Moeen in 4th and 'narrows' the gap to Marnus to 683.

That top five now reads:

1. Simon Harmer - 5201
2. Marnus Labuschagne - 4922
3. Babar Azam - 4239
4. Moeen Ali - 3953
5. Joe Root - 3614

Other performers of interest

Peter Handscomb's score of 87 didn't see him in the Top 3 for the week but still saw him overtake Dawid Malan into 10th spot.

Ones to Watch

The BBL boys have a lot to play for. peter Siidle is just 99 points away from usurping Nicholas Pooran in 8th spot whilst Glenn Maxwell is 17 points off knocking Virat Kohli into 13th.

Highest Players by Format

Long Form - Simon Harmer - 3326
50 Over - Simon Harmer - 954
T20 - Babar Azam - 3068

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 185.75
2. Marnus Labuschagne - 182.3
3. Joe Root - 157.13

Glenn Maxwell's poor start to the BBL sees his average drop by 2.66 - he is only just the right side of 100 points per week. Ravichandran Ashwin's Test form sees him add a huge 5.71 to his weekly average score.

Prof has gone early again. Mrs Prof must have snuck out to a Christmas party before Boris changes his mind

Despite this being a little heretical, it occurs to me that, contrary to my thoughts from a week or so ago, England don't have to bowl well to negate the threat to my boys from Labu and Sandpaper Steve.... they just have to bat really, really badly. I have a feeling England can manage that

another week off for Harmer, so the pressure is firmly on the bananaman to keep the cushion as large as possible.... so far he's keeping his end up :clap

cheers Prof :salute

the div 2 matches in SA have been postponed. It feels like only a matter of time before the div 1 matches suffer the same fate

The veggie monster might very well have to protect me on his own. A big fat zero today doesn't help much
