Current Test Fantasy League Rules as at June 2010

Feel free to pick 5 players from the two countries (a mix of the two, or 5 from one country - it's up to you), and two reserve players just incase one of the chosen 5 does not play. The first reserve player picked will come into contention first.

Scoring system

Batting

1 point per run
+10 for a half century
+20 for a century (+10 for any additional half century)
If a batsman is not out after 50 = +10, after 100 = +15, after 200 = +25 etc....

Fielding

10 points per catch or stumping
20 points per run out, or 10 points each, if two players share the responsibility
10 bonus points for 3 contributions with catches, stumpings or run outs

Bowling

20 points per wicket
2 points per maiden over
+10 for 5 wickets in the match
+20 for 5 wickets in an innings
+30 for 10 wickets in the match
+50 for 10 wickets in an innings
+30 for a hat trick, + 10 for two in a row(wickets)

That got taken out in the 2012 update I think?

It was due to people saying it was leveraged to bowlers and too difficult to find.

just wandering if we can add a tie breaker.
the tie breaker would be the 6th players scores would be added if the teams are the same for the first 5.
7th player would be used if the 6th player is the same.

Does anyone have a spreadsheet to record these scores?

I am just trying to put one together (yes, I'm bored), and I had a couple of questions about the rules:

Batting - is the not out score given per increment of 50? So is it 10 for 50, 15 for 100, 20 for 150, 25 for 200 etc., or is it only awarded as 10 for 50, 15 for 100, 25 for 200, 35 for 300? I'm finding this a difficult rule to apply.
Fielding- is the bonus for 3 contributions per innings or per match? And does a 'contribution' count if it is a half-involvement in a run-out?
Bowling - are the bonus points cumulative? So would a bowler who takes 10 wickets in an innings score the +50 and also the +30 for 10 wickets in the match? Likewise, would a bowler who gets five wickets in each innings score +20 bonus points for each innings for 5 wickets, +10 for 5 wickets in the match, +30 for 10 wickets in the match? Or does the bowler only get the highest bonus entitled to?

Have I confused you all yet? I've confused myself...

I just made up my own basic spreadsheet and I calculate every players points in my head and then insert that players total for the match into the spreadsheet..... there is a google doc spreadsheet thing that other people use, but I personally think it is harder to ensure accuracy although it may well be easier to use.... personal preference, though....... see what works best for you

I'm finding this a difficult rule to apply. this bonus is applied to a players final not out score so a player who ends his innings on 101no would get 101 pts for the runs, 20 points for the century and 15 pts for being not out = 136... 55no would be 55+10+10=75
Fielding- is the bonus for 3 contributions per innings or per match? per match
And does a 'contribution' count if it is a half-involvement in a run-out? yes... sometimes more than 2 players are involved, but I still apply it
Bowling - are the bonus points cumulative? So would a bowler who takes 10 wickets in an innings score the +50 and also the +30 for 10 wickets in the match? Likewise, would a bowler who gets five wickets in each innings score +20 bonus points for each innings for 5 wickets, +10 for 5 wickets in the match, +30 for 10 wickets in the match? Or does the bowler only get the highest bonus entitled to? This is less clear, and I think this has been debated before, but I always award a player everything that he is entitled to, so I award a bowler who takes 3wkts in the first innings and 7 in the second.... 60pts for the 3fer, 140 pts + 20pts for the 7fer, +10 pts for initially getting 5 in the match, + 30 pts for ending up with 10 in the match = 260pts. 5 wickets in each innings I would score.... 100+20, 100+20, +10 +30 = 280. someone who doesn't bowl in the first innings but takes 10fer in the second would score 200+10(5 in the match)+20(for an innings 5fer)+30(10 in the match)+50 (innings 10fer) = 310pts
I believe that this better rewards bowlers for more noteworthy wicket hauls....someone who takes 3 wickets on a flat deck in the first innings, and 7 wickets as the pitch crumbles, is rewarded slightly less than a bowler who takes 5 wickets on that flat deck and 5 later... a 10fer is a more notable achievement than a 3 fer and a 7fer.....at least that's the way I see it

Have I confused you all yet? I've confused myself...

I hope this helps

Thanks durham, that's great.

One final question - does the additional bonus for not out increase only with increments of 100? So 50 not out is 50 for the runs +10 for the 50, +10 for not out, while 100 not out is 100 for the runs +20 for the 100 +15 for not out. So for 150 not out the score is 150 for the runs, +30 for the 150, then +15 for not out or +20?
