bizarre occurrence just then. Cutting bowled to Travis Birt, the ball followed him and kept very close to him. 'Keeper (Kieswetter) took it, Cutting turned to walk back for the next ball, only to see the ump's finger up. Kieswetter held up the ball on taking it, and went to pass it onto a team-mate only to see the ump's finger up. No appeal, no contact between ball and anything, but a dismissal is given.

So unprepared for and not expecting the decision was I that when I saw the ump's raised finger, I thought he was giving a bye. Which puzzled me, but less than the reality.

It wouldn't've been so bad but Dunk was out 3 balls later.

Hobart in trouble now.

Getting exciting, but I reckon Heat have the upper hand still: 18 balls left, 37 runs for victory, 5 wickets in hand. aine is just at the crease.

Hobart pull off an improbable win... in the best game of this edition of BBL. The Stars and the Sixers will slog it out tomorrow for top spot.

So, it comes down to the last over. Hobart are needing 10 runs from it and Ben Hilfenhaus is facing.

2 balls later, Hobart have won! Hilfenhaus' first ever runs in the BBL have been a 4 and a 6 - at a strike rate of 500! Goes to make up for some of his very generous bowling earlier.

Damned exciting run chase. Heat set a record score and Hurricanes pull off a record run chase.

Team news for the Melbourne Stars is that both Lasith Malinga and James Faulkner will be playing against the Sydney Sixers. On paper, these two teams are probably the strongest teams, so this game should be a hum-dinger!

Malinga is such a worry from an opposition viewpoint. I reckon he is the best T20 bowler there is.

I'm not sure if he's as good as he used to be but he's still a fine bowler. I'd probably have Narine ahead of him.

Quite the touch up given to the Sixers by the Stars. That's some batting line up in the Stars team, but they were also assisted greatly by a huge number of extras.

The Melbourne Renegades are hosting the Brisbane Heat tonight at Docklands. Aaron Finch and Alex Doolan are opening for the Renegades. Both need to score quite heavily if they are to have any hope against the Heat, who are a very good team. Aaron Finch is showing good form early on. This just might be a good game. It looks as though a good crowd is in for this one.

Well, wonders will never cease. The Melbourne Renegades have registered 210 for 3! Alex Doolan fell early to the worst hook shot you'll ever see. Then Aaron Finch and Jos Buttler put on a bit of a show, with Finch scoring 81 runs with 3 6's, and Buttler with 61 and 4 6's. If that wasn't enough, the real carnage came in the 19th over, when Ali Mac went for 2 6's in a row that were both high full tosses, requiring Ben Cutting to complete the over, who was also hit for 6 off the last ball of the over, which yielded 28 runs. Ben Rohrer finished not out on 36 from 11 balls! With James Pattinson lining up for the Renegades along with Murali, this total is going to be tough to chase. Surely the Renegades won't blow this.

Surely they won't. But I thought the Heat were safe the other night against Hobart as well.

Everything has gone right so far for the Renegades, and plenty went wrong for the Heat. I didn't see the first few overs, so missed Doolan's innings and dismissal, but Buttler and and Finsh were so clean and powerful with their hitting. Quite impressive. And then Rohrer!!

The Renegades won quite comfortably in the end. Brisbane never looked like chasing down that total. It seems a shame that the Renegades will now lose Jos Buttler to England duties... like they're going to win a game! I'm not sure what the Renegades are going to do about a second import. I've heard that Graeme Swann is available, but the spin department is not something the Renegades are short of, especially with Fawad Ahmed sitting on the bench. James Pattinson took 3 wickets, but did bowl a lot of wides, including one that went for 4 down leg side. When Petr Siddle joins the ranks after the Sydney Test, this team will be pretty handy. They have a re-match with the Melbourne Stars on Sunday. I might just have to get myself down there!

Hobart have managed to pull the Renegades back from what looked a very good score to a mediocre one. I only caught the last over, but the Renegades were 0/93 off 10 overs and then went to score 8/68 off the next 10 to finish up on 161.

hilfenhaus got 0 wickets @ more than 10 per over, Laughlin got 3 wickets at 4 per over.
