A BBL trade week will be taking place from Nov 11-15 for the first time. On the BBL website, thy have suggested some silly trades. I guess each team will evaluate what they have a shortage of as opposed to what they are in abundance with. Given how rubbish the Sydney Thunder have been, they might consider trading some poor players for some good ones! Having had a glance at the squads, I can see the Renegades looking to trade either Fawad Ahmed or Murali somewhere for a heavy hitter. They do have Aaron Finch, but my guess is that he will be unavailable for much of this upcoming campaign due to national duties. The Melbourne Stars could also be looing to off-load Peter Handscome, given that Matthew Wade has lost favour with the Oz selectors. With Warnie retired, they could well be looking for a spinner. I'll post developments as they occur.

Mark Gosgrove has been signed by the Sydney Sixers for this season. I'm not sure why he's chosen to leave Slowbart. The beer is definitely better down there than it is in Sydney.

Dilshan has signed with the Sydney Thunder, who are looking to be a decent outfit this year. With Eoin Morgan, Mike Hussey and Usman Khawaja, their batting looks very formidable. Bowling wise they're still a bit thin. They do have Dirk Nannes and Gurinder Sandhu, but that's about it. They might even manage to not finish dead last this year.

So, being a native Victorian, FTS, when it comes to Stars and Renegades playing each other, who do you support?

I'm a Stars man, on account of them playing at the G and me being a member there. They'll go close again this year. The Renagades will do ok too. I'd love to see an all Melbourne final. It could happen.

Went to the opening Big Bash game tonight at the MCG. The Melbourne Stars blew the Renegades away fairly easily tonight, with Luke Wright top scoring for the Stars in a blistering performance of power hitting. Jackson Bird did the damage with the ball, removing key Renegades early in their run chase. The Stars were without Lasith Malinga tonight, who will only make the men in green look even more fearsome when he does line up. For the Renagades, take out Murali and Aaron Finch and they have very little. I can't see them repeating the heroics of last year if tonight was anything to go by. There was a goodish crowd in for the game, as Bill Lawry would say. Warney made an appearance at half time. It was a good night. I drank beer... it tasted great!

Oh I nearly forgot. John Hastings managed to make a pair in one innings! He was clean bowled from a ball that was a free hit, then managed to get himself caught out the very next ball. Well done, that man.
