Shakib Al Hasan will be replacing the injured Johan Botha for the Adelaide Strikers.

The Renegades go up against the Stars tonight at Docklands stadium. A big crowd is in. The Renegades are batting first, with Michael Hill and Aaron Finch getting the action under way. Hill is a former national under 19 captain who is on the books with the Bushrangers. He's in the side in place of Alex Doolan, who's in Sydney with the Test squad. The Renegades won this match last year, although the Stars beat them at the G just before Christmas.

Jackson Bird has taken three wickets in his first over, and is on a hat trick in his next over.

bummer! There I was thinking it would start at 7.30. I wish they would be consistent.

I see Bird just bowled at 140k's. Pretty fast for him, I think.

Aaron Finch clobbered 25 runs in the final over to life the Renegades to 163 for 5, which I estimate to be a par score at this venue. Murali and James Pattinson aside, the Renegades don't have a great bowling attack, and the Stars have plenty of big hitters. Cameron White and Luke Wright are opening. This might be interesting.

Demolition job by the Stars on all of the Renegade bowlers. Even Murali is going at 8 an over.

Maxwell hit fifty off 23 balls - with no fours. Just hit a four now, but his fifty at least 6 sixes, maybe 7, but not one four.

I can't see the Stars losing a game in this comp. Simply too much fire power. Cameron White and Glenn Maxwell will be hot property in the IPL, as will Aaron Finch... and they're Victorian!

just so long as they lose one game - either a semi or the final. that'll do me

unless they are playing The Heat, then I would have to reevaluate.

'Two weeks after BCAcricket.org broke the news that Dwayne Smith had dramatically pulled out of his contract with Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League (BBL) after twice changing his mind about travelling while at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) here, the experienced Barbados all-rounder and West Indies player has confirmed the sequence of events while stating he was now "very good, getting fit and ready to play for West Indies whenever called upon". "No one knows what had happened and I didn't say anything because as I said it was personal and I would let it stay that way because no one knows what had happened and it would go on and on," Smith said in an interview on Line & Length, a weekly television programme. "I know that people are talking but I am here now to let people know that Dwayne Smith is very good, getting fit and ready to play for West Indies whenever called upon." On December 19, BCAcricket.org reported that "Smith was scheduled to leave here last Friday (December 13) for London en route to Australia but dramatically asked airline officials to disembark the aircraft while it was on the runway at the Grantley Adams International Airport".?? The report quoted well-placed sources as saying that Smith, 30, again went to GAIA earlier the following week to leave for Australia but changed his mind yet again.'

It can't be a fear of flying. Is it a fear of the unknown? A fear of being taking out of his sphere of comfort, i.e. surrounded by Caribbean players, and put among a team of players he doesn't really know?

Weird regarding Smith. He was in my FL team too :angry

I see Thunder lost and Hussey did well (again). He must feel like Lara did in the latter part of his WI career.

I din't go into the G toniht. I was going to, but ended up working back. Looking at the way the Stars are pulverizing the Strikers, it's probably just as well I didn't bother.

It looks as if it will be a very early night at the cricket. The juggernaut that is the Stars rolls on.

Well that was hopeless. The Stars have absolutely destroyed Adelaide. I can't see anyone getting close to them this season.
