problem is we don't have enough of those sorts of players, who can cut it on the world stage. It works for India because of the IPL which is packed to the gunwales with experienced, and seasoned international players from around the world.

England did try bringing in a bunch of domestic T20 specialists to complement the existing England players, back in 2009 (I think), but of these, the only ones to not look woefully out of their depth (I'm being deliberately harsh here, some of them were never really given any sort of chance to shine at all) were Maddy and Solanki, both of whom had some international experience behind them to fall back upon

The established England internationals play hardly any T20, either internationally or domestically, and the one who has the most ability, the most experience, the most knowledge of the format, and the fear factor.... has, as we all know, been sacked from the side. Sadly the winning domestic formula in England is the Hampshire model, which involves preparing a lifeless beach and packing the side full of spinners and dibbly dobbly wobblers, so the young domestic players never really get a chance to learn the vital skills at domestic level that will one day help them on the international stage.

I imagine that this is why the likes of Dernbach, who I think must have a pretty good domestic record, gets flayed to all parts when he plays for England

imo England have Friends Life T20 which is definitely few years older than IPL so they have advantage in that aspect. In FLT20 too, there are foreign players so England players get to play against them to get better experience.

As far as pacers are concerned, are there no specialist bowler who can take at least 1 wicket per innings and give less than 8 rpo at international level :?: Kabir Ali, all rounder Darren Stevens,Liddle were in demand for BPL in 2013.aren't they likely to perform like that.

What was wrong with Samit Patel who fits into England selectors category of bowlers who can bat or batter who can bowl especially given this tournament was in Bangladesh and he is a spinner batsman and has relatively more Asian experience .Anything wrong about his fitness.Or is the other leftie Stephen is a better bowler than Samit

Apart from Moeen,Luke,Alex who are in current T20 squad, there were players like Liddle, Stevens,Joshua, Kabir, Joe Denly,Mustard, Jason, Owais and Sean who played in Bangladesh premiere league. Is none of these players good than the current ones. Are none of them good to replace some from current squad.iirc Danny Briggs got test debut and did not do well but this is T20 and i guess he has often played a major role in Hampshire's success in shorter formats? I am surprised that his economy rate in T20i is 11.05. Is he worth giving more time to setlle and then the chances of his eco rate coming down due to experience an place stability more likely?

Since the current team made such a mess of this tournament, I was wondering how an all-time England T20 side would have got on. There are 23 players that have played over 10 games, with another dozen than have played 5 or more, so from those 35 this is what I came up with:

Hales
Kieswetter (wk)
Pietersen
Root
Morgan
Collingwood (capt.)
Bopara
Yardy
Swann
Sidebottom
Finn

Now these players might well be able to get the better of our 2014 team, but I don't think I would fancy their chances against any of this year's semi-finalists.
Sports broadcasting media nut miscast as a hard-working family man. Or should that be the other way around?

Good team. Even though he didn't play many, Freddie might get in. Tres has played the odd game. Maybe not enough to qualify for your team, but they could give us the push to win against the last four in Bangla.

I remember my first post on TMS was saying that my lifetime England team couldn't beat the contemporary Australian team. That was 2003, and we won the next series.
