West Indies opener Lendl Simmons had holes drilled into his bat by United States customs officials during an apparent drugs search.

Simmons, 29, was travelling in America with his Caribbean Premier League side, Guyana Amazon Warriors, when the bat was inspected on Thursday.

This is one of the reasons why the US can't be considered as serious hosts for a cricket tournament....

Kevin Pietersen comes into the St Lucia Zouks side, and suddenly they start winning matches.
8-)
Pacer Mervin Mathew took 3-15 to dismiss Jamaica for 143, and there were two wickets each for Darren Sammy and Tino Best, as Chadwick Walton was the only batsman to get among the runs with 48 from 33 balls. Then, Andre Fletcher hit 49 from 35 balls, and there were 20s from Pietersen, Tanvir and Henry Davids as St Lucia won with more than two overs to spare, Daniel Vettori the best bowler with 1-14 from four overs.

Ben Laughlin took three wickets for just seven runs, and there were two wickets each for Sheldon Cottrell and Justin Athanaze, as Trinidad were bowled out for 113, Evin Lewis topscoring with a run-a-ball 38. There were 20s for Marlon Samuels, Dave Hussey and Carlos Brathwaite as Antigua won, Shannon Gabriel and Kevon Cooper taking two wickets each.

In a high-scoring match, Guyana beat St Lucia by eight wickets with an over to spare. St Lucia started well, as Andre Fletcher hit 78 from just 49 balls, and Johnson Charles 62 from 46, to propel them to 189-7, medium pacer Navin Stewart taking three wickets. But Lendl Simmons hammered 97 from only 60 balls, including eight sixes and five boundaries, and he was supported by Martin Guptill's 66 from 47, as Guyana made the run chase look easy.

Barbados hammered Jamaica by a massive 88 runs. Kieron Pollard hit 63 from just 36 balls, and there were 30s from Dwayne Smith and William Perkins, in the Barbados score of 175-8. Rusty Theron took 4-35. There were two wickets each for Jeevan Mendis, Ashley Nurse and Rayad Emrit as Jamaica were skittled out for a mere 87 all out, Nkrumah Bonner topscoring with 47.

How did Trinidad lose that match?
The fielding and catching under pressure was appalling....

Ross Taylor topscored with 70 from just 44 balls in Trinidad's 155-6, and there was a run-a-ball 33 from Darren Bravo, against medium-pacer Dave Bernard's 3-19. Suliemann Benn took 3-27 to have Jamaica reeling at 76-6 in the 14th over after losing Nkrumah Bonner for a run-a-ball 39, but Andre Russell hit a match-winning 62 not out from just 27 balls to once again propel Jamaica to victory.

It was a one-sided semi-final, as Guyana crushed Jamaica by 10 wickets with more than five overs to spare. First, Sunil Narine, Krishmar Santokie, and Mohammed Hafeez were miserly in restricting Jamaica to a mere 134-6, Chadwick Walton topscoring with a run-a-ball 34. Then, Lendl Simmons (71 off 43) and Martin Guptill (66 off 46) easily knocked off the target.

It was a disappointing, rain-ruined end to the CLP, with three rain interruptions, and the match was eventually decided on D/L. Dwayne Smith hit a run-a-ball 59, and Shoaib Malik struck 55 not out from just 41 balls, in the Barbados total of 153-6, against Krishmar Santokie's 3-19 and Sunil Narine's 2-20. In reply, Guyana were 107-4 in the 16th over, when rain finally brought an end to the match, giving Barbados an eight-run win, Jason Holder taking 2-18 from his four overs.
