T20 leagues for retired players

I've been reading about a couple of new T20 leagues that are in the pipeline, that will feature retired international players. The first one, the Masters Champions League looks set to be based in the UAE, with the first edition set to take place in February next year. Six franchises of 15 players to begin with, with expansion later on. The other league is the brain child of Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warner, with it's first staging apaently taking place in the United States, at the conclusion of the Major League Baseball World Series. Reports indicate that 28 players have been offered $US30,000 per match.

I do like the idea of a league for retired players, but can't understand why one is going to based in Dubai, with the other being launched in the US. I do hope they work out, but have a feeling that both might be short lived.

Thoughts? :dunno

I like the general concept.

doubtless the English masters won't be able to participate, partly because there is no such thing as an English T20 master, and partly because most English masters are still playing county cricket and the 3 things are bound to clash............ by design, probably, to keep the *modded* English out

"bloody English.... spoiling everything for everyone else, whilst thinking they are better than everyone else"

Watching an almost 50 year old, clearly overweight, Carl Hooper try and bowl is no advertisement for the game.

Carl Hooper has been one of the better bowlers in the match. You're lucky you didn't see Donald and Walsh lob the ball down at 60mph.

just spotted that MPV is in Warnie's squad

MPV?

T20?

I remember watching MPV take England to 9-1 after 10 overs -v- SA a few years ago in a 50 over match, with SA reaching 64 in their opening 10 overs.

has he even played T20?

I think I've seen it all now.... or rather, I haven't (thank goodness)

Chris Tavare would have been a much better pick

Looks like another good crowd in Houston. Warne's Warriors to bat first.

262 by Warne warriors in 20 overs

The great opening combo of Sachin - Saurav is back :clap

So many legends in one match. No sledging at all. This is awesome. I like it. Hopefully we will have at least one such series every year to start with.

Another match lost. The crowd attendance has been good considering this is retired players match. The atmosphere is lively.

Only 16,300 out of a capacity of 40,000.
