i finally have an IPL team to support

Welcome to successful IPL franchisee :thumb
2013 IPL Winners
2013 Champions League Winners
2015 IPL Winners

2016 Squad
Akshay Wakhare, Ambati Rayudu, Corey Anderson, Deepak Punia, Harbhajan Singh, Hardik Pandya, J Suchith, Jasprit Bumrah, Jitesh Sharma, Jos Buttler, Kieron Pollard, Kishore Kamath, Krunal Pandya, Lasith Malinga, Lendl Simmons, Mitchell McClenaghan, Marchant de Lange, Nathu Singh, Nitish Rana, Parthiv Patel, Rohit Sharma (c), Shreyas Gopal, Siddhesh Lad, Tim Southee, Unmukt Chand, Vinay Kumar

I am wondering what the playing 11 will be like.
Imagine Rohit and Jos opening and batting in full flow. I would have them as our opening batsmen this season.

Think Tank:
John Wright (Talent Search), Sachin Tendulkar (Mentor) , Ricky Ponting (Head Coach) , Robin Singh (Batting Coach), Jonty Rhodes (Fielding Coach) and Shane Bond (Bowling Coach)

The other good buy was RCB getting Watto.

Gayle
Watson
Virat
ABD

:o

But the bowlers will let opponents score more runs as usual :D.Starc lacks support.

hmmm ... interesting to see some of the unsold players

could pick a decent XI out of that ... Guptill, Khawaja, Bailey, Tiwary, Badrinath, Bisla, Nayar, Bishoo, Ojha, Parvinder Awana, Munaf Patel

with overseas reserves of Mahela, Amla, Samuels, Haddin, Dilshan, Sammy, Rahim, Tait, Kulasakera, etc etc

although Indian reserves tougher to fin ... Pujara, Mukund, Tyagi, Pankaj Singh, Mithun Manhas,

Khawaja unsold, yet Watto goes for nearly 2 mil? WFT? :strop Ok, he can bowl a bit, but really?

I just don't understand how the IPL franchises value these players.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I cannot fathom how Yuvraj keeps commanding the price he does. He's not bad, but he's not great either - his T20 record is fairly average (in fact, I think I remember reading that his average and strike rate were almost bang on the average for players who have scored 2000 or more T20 runs). So why does he command such a premium? Surely the value-for-money proposition is very poor - you could get 3 or 4 players for the price he goes for. Or one really good player.

Yuvraj is great for marketing.

also a proven ODI matchwinner in Ind with bat and ball; and a proven T20 winner for Ind as well - maybe they keep gambling on him rediscovering that.

Maybe it's time the IPL revisited the idea of having 10 franchises, perhaps when Rajisthan and Chennai return from their suspensions. It might also be time to increase the number of foreign players from 4 to 5.

Is Starc going to play? been out for ages, not in the WC, hoping to be back playing for Aus later in the year... to me that says he is not yet fit

or at least not yet fully fit

Starc is bowling in nets but with limited practice, from which i understand he is not yet fully fit.

(obviously Kohli is the first name)
