Edgbaston is indeed an excellent venue for a flagship event such as Twenty20 Finals Day. Being a midlands location, most counties can access the venue with reasonable ease. Can pretty much sit anywhere in the ground and get a good view of the action. Stadium/Match Operators did well to get the event running smoothly when facing difficulties beyond their own control.

Edgbaston is hosting the next two Finals Days (Trent Bridge is hosting 2019 - nice ground but Nottingham is horrible to get to by car). I don't think there is a ground more worthy of hosting Finals Day than Edgbaston. Any issues with Finals Day are more to do with the ECB, too many neutrals having tickets and not enough supporters of all participating events. The final itself was played in an atmosphere to a party winding down rather than a big game event and Durham fans weren't seen or heard until Northants were 9-3.

I found driving to Edgbaston surprisingly easy considering the size of Birmingham, only bit of negotiating was entering the roundabout to join the A38M back onto the motorway network and part of the M6 having one lane open (should have gone M42/M1 to get home).

Five miles from the M1, dual carriageway all the way into the city. Ground one mile from city centre.

Five miles is a long way on congested roads, can't escape the traffic whichever way you enter Nottingham and crossing the Bridge is not fun whether attending cricket or football. Grounds are closer to 2 miles from the City Centre, a flat but long walk.

Back to the rose bowl please?
