Holder and Taylor are among those released. I can't say I am surprised.

looks like only Buttler and Billings, from England, have been retained by the franchises.

When are the auctions, Adi?

probably a good move for Stokes and England, but a rotten one for Durham. Still.... Durham don't pay his wages any more

I'm not sure how it works for central contracts, but when we used to lose Diimi and Lumb, we would get 10% of their fees

The auctions are nicely scheduled. It allows England players in this T20 squad versus India to get them a bid for IPL 2017. Also the inter-state T20 tournament starts on Jan 29 and ends on Feb 6. So domestic players participating in that will also get to top the run charts and wicket charts in this tourney and attract bid from IPL franchisees.

Who will buy
1. KP
2. Dale Steyn
3. Imran Tahir
4. Thisara Perera
5. Mitchell Johnson
6. Martin Gutill
7. Eoin Morgan
8. Trent Boult
9. Corey Anderson
10. Ben Stokes
11. David Willey

:hmmm

I think Ben Stokes is going to be seriously bidded by many franchisees even though he may not be available for entire season which has been a problem area for England players getting bid in IPL.

looks like KP isn't confident of an ipl deal, pulled out of the auction.
citing needing rest after a long winter and CA charged with misconduct doing the big bash.

i'm assuming woakes doesn't really want an IPL deal as he has surely priced himself out of the market

dont think he has anywhere near a high enough profile in t20 to be at that level

The base price doesnt matters much for good cricketers. Base price rockets higher as soon as two teams start to bid intensely for a player to fulfill a certain skill set requirement.Ben Stokes will be sold a lot higher than his base price , just like Chris Morris got couple of IPL's back. Although Ben may have listed for 2 crores, he may end up getting 8.5 to 12 crore in the bidding war. It depends how much time can England players get to play in IPL due to international commitments.

Somebody take Vinay Kumar from us for free. Legend should have been released, but i am not sure why we didn't. :horse

I would like to see Mumbai buy Ben because Corey is released and Pollard is no longer a force that he was. Other English player i would like us to buy is Jason.

Imagine Jason and Rohit in full flow.

Rich probably wants to be out of the may series against ireland.
although think Woakes will get brought anyway for being english.
England seem to be the new trend in the IPL, few reports already from ipl owners saying english players will be the one franchises will be targeting.

Stokes is guaranteed to be the highest paid cricketer from the auction, would be already lined up for endorsement deal already as well with him being in india for 3 months and generally having a successful tour on the field and off the field.
