I hope rich has watched Ian Bell's Big Bash debut.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Bell top scores with 61 on Perth debut.

roy and billings the two top scorers for the sixers

bell top scoring for the scorchers

jordan taking a couple of wickets, albeit a bit expensive and an early wicket for willey

happy for him tbh

now that his england career is over he deserves to try and make a few quid for himself on the t20 circuit

if he has a good couple of weeks here he might even get an IPL contract out of it

If Bayliss is watching from his hospital bed Bell's POSITIVITY should have impressed him. Ideal innings for a Bayliss test batsman.

Bell is the Warwickshire captain I don't see him giving that up to go to the IPL.

Huge crowds yet again for this tournament. Starting to rival IPL in many ways.

England still haven't found a batsman likely to rival Bell's overall Test record other than Root and Bairstow. Form is temporary and class is permanent - very few have a better record at 5, and especially 6, than Bell.

I'm certainly not advocating his recall, but age is no barrier if he performs well next season and if England still have a problem.

I don't think it is as daft as some people are saying it is to imagine Ian Bell getting back into the Test team.

a guy who will be 35 by time the next series starts

there is no open spot for him

the last 2 years of test cricket he played he averaged 29

he's just had one of the poorest seasons in county cricket probably since the first couple of years of his career

it would be a backward step at a time we do actually have a number of younger batsmen with potential

so by that logic there is probably every chance the selectors will go back to him

He was not picked in IPL auction last year. However if he is one of the top scorer in this Big Bash he may get a bid at base price in IPL. Amla too had to wait until last year. Ross Taylor is someone whom some teams have wasted a lot of money but failed to get what was expected from him.

Competition for Bell from current foreign openers in IPL:
Dwayne Smith , Big Mac, Amla, Guptill, Lendl Simmons, Finch, Watson, Gayle.

He may be picked as reserve opener though if he has good Big Bash.
Test FL's - 8 , ODI and Tests Combo FL's - 1, ODI World Cup - 1, ODI FL's - 7, ODI and T20i combo FL's - 1 ,
T20 Franchisee FL's - 7, T20i Cup FL's- 1, T20 FL's- 5 , 50 Overs Domestic FL's - 1, 40 Overs Domestic FL's- 1

Standard of fielding in this tournament is almost as bad as the BPL. Everything else is pretty good though.
