Hales has been off the boil in the last few games.

Hants XI looks very strong.

On paper it does. But on a number of occasions in the group stages, reality didn't match it.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

Unless one of our top three really gets going (which is possible), I reckon that's 15 too many for us to chase. Patel, Sodhi and Mullaney are capable of bowling at least as tight as us in the middle overs.

Basically, that Abbott over to Christian has badly hurt us - even though we did get him with the final ball.

Not that confident of Notts defending this, but at least getting Boom Boom ensures it will be a normal game.

Well balanced game this, just tilting Notts way at the last. Game still on though.

... Berg out now, that might just be the clincher.

At 90 odd for 2 after 10 it was a stroll.

Sadly our middle order bolloxed it up once again.

Semi final was still a good effort from this particular team.

Yeah, compared to other three SFs at Edgbaston, that was good for us. But we lost the game the moment Vince decided to try and hit Mullaney, and got caught. All we had to do that over was knock six singles, and Mullaney was done. Vince could then hopefully have got stuck into the final five overs, possibly with a bit of help from Carberry. But whatever order we put them in today, Afridi, Bailey and Dawson still didn't even get 10 runs between them. As you say, it's our middle order again. AS it has been all competition. Fairly embarrassing how much we rely on Vince. Possible that we might have only got 160 against Derby had it not been for a freak Afridi innings.

Until we get a middle order, a score in excess of about 150 or 155 will regularly be a very difficult score for us. Somerset got way too many batting first in our final group game, and Notts got too many here.

Can't even say that there's an easy fix by going down the overseas route, because Bailey is here on a two year contract. He hasn't proven himself to be that replacement for McKenzie that we have so badly lacked for a while.

Congrats to Notts though. Best team on paper for years finally makes the final.

So, all north final.

Maybe time to promote more sides from the northern group.;)

Good stuff from Woakes. I did wonder after the SFs whether Notts might bring Broad in for Sodhi.
