Starts with 3 matches today.

Match 1
Adelaide Strikers Women won easily by 45 runs against Hobart Hurricanes. Sophie Devine top scored with 46 runs and then took 3 wickets. All of the batters for Adelaide contributed with good scores. Haley Mathhews the West Indian opener who is batting at 3 in BB top scored for Hobart with 35 runs.

Match 2
Sydney Thunder won by 11 runs versus Melbourne Renegades. Renegades were doing very well in chase of 200, however the wicket of Jessica Duffin (81) turned the match in Renegades favor. She was unfortunate to be given out as it was a bounce diving catch. Sophie Molieux and Chamai Atthapathtu gave a good opening start. Both lefties scored at a good strike rate. Rachel Haynes, Rene Farrell and Nicola Carey contributed significantly to post a team total of 200. Especially tFe partnership of Rene Farell and Nicol Carey recovered the Thunder collapse as well as scored cameos to put up a match winning total.

Some good scores in these matches. Excellent strike rates for the batters and expensive economy for the bowlers. It'll be interesting to see if the women can keep this up, because these are the sorts of stats normally achieved by the men

North Sydney oval is very much a batter's paradise. After all, Gardener hit at least 10 sixes!

I am not sure how 'home and away' this comp is - the fist game today is also at NSO, of two non-Sydney teams - but I think we will see a levelling of scores when we move to other grounds.

JLT 50 was centred around a handful of grounds too. Must be an Aussie thing... don't think it would wash in Blighty

thanks for that GJ, I hadn't looked at the venues.... didn't occur to me

Sciver makes an impressive start and Brunt is one of the few bowlers who didn't get carted
