Only if Yorkshire agree to release Willey. Might be an issue as bowling options are thin on the ground for the County Championship opener with Coad and FIsher injured.

CA have withdrawn Pat Cummins from IPL as precautionary measure. Thinking of some names whom we can sign as his replacement. :hmmm

Observing that there is lot of exchange between BCCI and ECB regarding players in IPL and county this year. Likely we will have another cricketer from England playing here.

Presumably Willey had Yorkshire’s permission before he entered himself into the auction?

Considering that both the parties have signed the contract, it seems to me that CSK think tank must have done the due diligence before signing an international cricketer. Also, in the 11 editions of IPL so far, it has not happened that the players who have signed were not allowed by their boards to play in IPL except for doping charges, ball tampering, injury management issues etc.

Liam Plunkett and now David Willey are the two late replacements which have created a problem for Yorkshire.

Pointless having an auction if players can be picked up afterwards, losing two bowlers six days before the County Cricket season starts is unacceptable.

Either there should be a cut off point for IPL overseas signings, or counties are allowed to sign overseas players on emergency cover.

Willey has a white ball ECB contract for which counties are amply compensated which gives ECB the right to dictate a players availability to his County and they wish players to experience IPL. Frustrating for Yorkies especially Moxon but that's the situation which applies to all counties. Yorkies looking to change rules but should you prevent players the chance of earning circa £220k for 6 weeks work ?-that's a life changing amount of money.
And neither Willey nor Plunkett are Yorkshire-developed players.

Probably too lazy to cut it.

how long does an IPL match actually last?

I think that when T20 first started each innings had to have reached the 20th over within 75 mins, or there were penalty runs awarded. Is that still the case? It feels unlikely (I presume they still have time outs and tactical ad breaks and the like).

Individuals participating in the IPL is not necessarily an issue, more that Yorkshire found themselves two club contracted bowlers unavailable at short notice when they were expeced to start the County Championship season and not every county will be affected in the same way. Financial compensation is one thing, but money will not take wickets against Essex.

Since the IPL will have a place in the Future Tours Programme along with City Based T20 being a prominent part in English cricket, counties need flexibility to sign like for like players on a cover basis.
