I could be wrong but have a feeling that the reserve day is only a last resort so if it's possible to have a 5 over game tomorrow they'll do it.
As they're selling tickets - both ground and TV - for tomorrow, then you can bank on this.
You can tell who is 'running' the timetable, according to when the games are being played...
Scheduling T20 QFs on Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon (a bank holiday to boot!) would make much more sense for both players and supporters- with all teams having at least 1 or 2 days off between possible Championship and T20 games - than this year's calendar appears to allow:
4 day Championship games Sun-Wed
T20 QFs: Thu/Fri evening & Sat/Sun afternoon
4 day Championship games Wed-Sat
As it happened: Kent v Lancs T20 QF was played the day after both were scheduled to finish a 4-day game!
However, he who pays the piper calls the tune!
Thursday night football is a Europa League play-off - Live on BT Sport - so Sky need something to 'put up against it' - on their Main Event channel. T20 QF1 is therefore planned for a Thursday evening.
MNF is Manchester United v Tottenham (the biggest game of the weekend) - LIve on Sky Sports - so naturally Sky want to keep their schedule free for that.
Friday night, Saturday evening, Sunday & Monday afternoon - seems ideal to me. Maybe with a proviso that (the longest travelling away team) Sussex are not given a Friday night match in (the furthest distance away) Durham!
If it was down to the counties wanting to get bums-on-seats - having only known the fixtures since Aug 17th - then I'd bet BH Mon afternoon would be their preferred option...
Sports broadcasting media nut miscast as a hard-working family man. Or should that be the other way around?
