As expected another series loss following the SA tour seems inevitable. To have some consolation I think it's better to start the IPL thread right now and forget the grief.Enough of the test series in SA and England. Bring on IPL. Play it twice a year so that we can avoid more grief.

For this who are unaware, Rohit Sharma challenged Dale Steyn to bowl in India years before. Such is the confidence. Sky high. Watch Rohit Sharma aka "Talent" aka "Hitman" in full flow in Indian conditions. Captained us to 3 IPL trophy wins. :salute Who Dale Steyn, who Rabada, who Jimmy Anderson. 8-)

Recap of winners:

Mumbai Indians - 3 times winners.
Chennai Super Kings - 3 times winners.
Kolkata Knight Riders - 2 times winners.
Rajasthan Royals - 1 time winners.
Deccan Chargers - 1 time winners.
Sunrises Hyderabad - 1 time winners.

Kings 11 Punjab and Royal Challengers fans are still waiting for the elusive win. Every year the franchisee management raises the hopes of fans with their wonderful foresight commentary about team performance and how the two teams are picked. The fans end up disappointed at end of every IPL season.

ABD will be back playing cricket in IPL. Fans worldwide have missed his batting skills after his retirement.

David Warner and Steven Smith will also be back after having missed IPL 11 in 2018.

Delhi want to do away with 'Devils' in franchise name.

Wondering what would they opt for.

actually, if they kept the Devils, got rid of the Delhi and the Dare, and replaced them with Red.... they'd win everything in sight :P

Daniel Vettori will not be part of RCB coaching team. Gary Kirsten has been appointed as head coach and mentor. Gary joined RCB last year in capacity of batting coach while Daniel Vettori was head coach. Vettori had a long tie up with RCB for 8 years as a player and later as a coach.

RCB as a franchisee has been disappointing and they have never won IPL trophy. Last year they made a massive blunder of letting K L Rahul go to Punjab, who then rocked the IPL 2018 with his brilliant individual performances. The management had to do another attempt to turn the flopping team into a a very competitive one like Mumbai Indians, Chennai super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and this seems to be another attempt.

The value of ABD (11 crores) and Virat (17 crores) leaves little for the spend on other players, especially in the bowling department. whereas other franchisees have managed to get much better return from the players who have been paid 28 crores in other franchisees. Some franchisees are getting much better output from their top 2 or 3 players who have been paid equal or less than those two. That is one of the problem for RCB imo. The other is squad selection, especially the bowling attack has been a major flop. The third is captaincy of Virat. Fourth is the players RCB let go (Gayle,Rahul,Watson) have played much better when they moved to other franchisee. Have to accept though that Gayle and Watson were flops in 2016 season, however letting go of Rahul was a blunder and it cost them a lot.

RCB have transferred Quinton De Kock to Mumbai. :no Mumbai in turn have released Mustafizzur and Akila Dananjaya.

Quinton has been a under performer for Delhi as well as RCB. Ideally for Mumbai he is a backup for Evin Lewis who too was average performance wise in IPL 2017. Not happy with this deal. We released two non performers and bought one. We have many keepers already. Even at 2.8 crores better options are available.

This is a transfer. 15th is deadline for franchisees to announce which players they will be releasing.

Mitch Starc released from KKR by text! All the Aussie players invovled in world cups etc have been told they will have minimal invovlement in this year's IPL, however Davis Warner will be able to play whole comp for sunrisers...a sign maybe that OZ wont be re-calling him for world cup?

Smiffy retained by RR as well

Mark Wood released..... will he bothered? I doubt it... the daft beggars gave him $234,000 to bowl 4 overs and concede 49 runs ... that's nearly $5,000 per run

now that's what I call value for money :laugh

I wonder if there were any repercussions for the silly person who made that decision? I imagine that these people probably get paid a fortune to make these sorts of calls

Delhi Daredevils have been renamed to Delhi Capitals.

The team finished as one the semifinalists in the opening two editions but since then, they have made it to the play-offs only once (way back in 2012) in nine years. 4 times wooden spoon winners. Probably this renaming will change the season for them. If they had renamed to Delhi Superstars they would have made the playoffs this year :dunno
