The local umpires are hopeless, the more watch you it... so many over waist high no balls not called, front foot no balls not called, it's all so inconsistent and ruins the games when you know there's a howler on the way..

He suffered injury in test series against Bangladesh. Got injured again in one IPL match and has opted to not take any more chances considering WC is nearing.
With Jonny being one of the top 5 run scorers of this IPL, he can be rested.. Even when Jonny leaves for England, Guptill is there to open for SRH. I think he won't play IPL match this season unless he is fully fit.

Indeed the no ball (waist height) umpiring has been very poor. Dhoni should have suspended though even though it was initially signalled as no ball but the leg umpires cancelling it. Oxenford was also involved in some controversy in another IPL season. S Ravi too is having a bad time as umpire.
