Yes a bit of a scrappy game...Australia are going to do it fairly easily after the way that England innings folded up. Needed early wickets to make the chase a bit difficult but they didn't come.

England really should have punished Australia for their sloppy fielding but instead they just kept gifting wickets : I suspect they thought they needed a monster score to compete (not sure that was correct) and so went altogether too hard - to their cost. Some more judicious collecting singles to set up a late dash might have been a better tactic...but I guess it's a balancing act...

In truth Australia were rightly favorites for this title and deserve the win. England - without Taylor and Brunt - should probably take a measure of satisfaction from making the final.

As BFL says , nice to watch one at a civilized time of day ! Had time to catch up on sleep after the Rugby finished :)

Well that was depressingly one sided. Almost a carbon copy of the India-England game, with the roles reversed. England bat first, and crumble dismally to a sub-par total and Australia have no problem knocking off the runs.

England didn't bowl that well - too short. I think they struggled with the dew. It wasn't much to bowl at, but they could have done better.

Anyway, well done Australia. They were always going to be favourites, and they kept their composure in the chase well, if not in the field.

Bit of a disappointing tournament all up. Too many one-sided games, too many instances of nerves, teams failing to adapt to the conditions. After last year, where the women's game took a step forward IMO, this year indicates that there's still a long way to go before they reach the professionalism of the men's game (Australia perhaps excepted). In part that's due to the lower profile of the game and lower investment in most countries. But it's still a shame.

My team of the tournament:

Healy
Dottin
Mandhana
Jones (wk)
Kaur
Sciver
Perry
Taylor
Schutt
Gordon
Kasperek

But it was fairly close - few real standouts apart from Healy. I'd give the gloves to Jones after that performance in the final though.

I see cricinfo agrees with 7 of my picks

Shrubsole is a good call, and it was close for me between her, Taylor and Kasperek. Ditto Khan v Sciver - I had Sciver for the bowling as much as anything. I think Schutt deserves to be in there though.

I feel Women's cricket has come an awful long way in the last 10 years. Back then it was Australia, England and New Zealand as the top nations, but the field has increased with the emergence of India, West Indies and South Africa. This is in part to the ICC introducing a bilateral World Championship.

I went to a Rose's KSL game earlier this year and some aspects of play was no different to workshop cricket. Not necessarily a bad thing because I found it easier to pick up the technical aspects of play. The gulf of difference compared to the male counterparts is fewer matches and less time training. I vaguely recall Lauren Winfield saying in an interview the players mainly get together on a matchday only and barely practice as a team between Women's County Championship matches. Players can only get better through practice and a balanced domestic programme where top level players can play closely fought matches as well as a pathway at the grassroots level.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott

I think Schutt ought to be there too

I'm not sure Khan should be there (not good enough, for me), and I think Sciver had a rather poor series over all. It would be interesting to see how van Niekerk's figures matched up.

van Niekerk was the most economical bowler on display, and Sciver second.
