Early days yet, but the Sixers are looking like a reasonable shout to defend their title, while Perth and Brisbane seem to be somewhat off the pace.

Callum Ferguson rolling back the years and helping SydThun to victory over Perth. Think in a parallel universe Callum Ferguson could be a modern great. Wasn't given enough chances.

Perth 0 from 3. Still 11 games to go, so is it too early to start asking how the mighty have fallen?

This was supposed to be a make or break year for Lewis Gregory. He has not broken into the England set up but he has shown himself to be a decent T20 acquisition. He got three wickets today to pull of a surprise win for Brisbane vs Hobart.

yes, quite a debut

There has always been quite a gulf in quality between domestic and international cricket and this applies to the shortest form of the game even in the biggest global competitions

Perth are awful

It took Adelaide 15 overs to put 100 on the board and then somehow they were allowed to get to 165. Perth went off like a train, but once the openers were out they just subsided. The only way they will win a game this year is if Roy does it on his own. Mitch3 bowled tightly to keep the pressure on Adelaide until they got away, but then took an over out of the reply to score just a single solitary run

they need to sit down and take a long hard look at themselves, then put their heads together and have a long hard think. Even Durham would beat this lot and it's hard to sink lower than that

Jhye Richardsoon looked decent today though.

Shaun Marsh turned it on against for MelRen however they couldn’t hold on to a decent total of 168 as SydSix managed to get 16 runs in the last over.

The reverse derby fixture of SydThun and MelStars was a much more emphatic victory for the Sydney side. Chris Green was the star as he took both openers in his first spell and returned for another couple in his second to end with figures of 4-34.

Got to question Finch's captaincy. To only bowl Nabi for 2 overs, despite taking 2 wickets, seems like folly. He might not have ended up having to bowl Sutherland for those 2 catastrophic overs at the end.

My god S Marsh turns it on for the BBL. Has the joint highest BBL fifties alongside Finch and (of course) Lynn. In this form you would expect him to bank another couple - is getting one every other game.

Hobart going well this year. Even in matches where it's not clear if they've scored enough runs, they find ways to win. A good balance between bat and ball in the side and they appear to be well drilled and well led

A proper run chase from Brisbane. Well done them. They didn't panic when the wickets started to fall. They didn't do what Cricket Australia wanted and start mindlessly throwing the bat at every ball, they waited for the sixers to bring back the pie men, Christian and Brathwaite, and instead of holing out in the deep as they were supposed to, they let them bowl all their wides, they worked the ball and they ran hard to turn ones into twos to bring the RRR down before administering the coup de grace in the penultimate over

Top work from Gregory and the Wilderbeast :salute

Feel like Stoinis might be on the cusp of being a T20 gun for hire par excellence. He hit seven sixes in his 55-ball 97 to help MelStars beat Hobart.

Clearly I don't understand the substitution rule, because after 10 over of Perth's innings, the Sixers substituted Dwarsius for Pope and now he's batting at 8

although the name on the scorecard has changed to O'Keefe, so perhaps I do understand it after all
