Champions League 2018/19

The beautiful game!

What I would like to see would be referees booking players for surrounding him. How many times in the first 20 minutes did a soft foul get conceded, and Madrids whole team rush to the ref brandishing air cards....

I hate AM, Simeone has turned them into such a cynical side, despite their obvious ability on the ball

I watched the Madrid v Juve game..... Juve were terrible.

According to the sweaty ref in the studio, Peter Walton, they were, but he was doing his ref's union jobsworth standard diplomatic rollocks bit.

All the guys in the studio disagreed with both penalties just like me. First one was arm in a natural position, tried to get it out the way. Took three and half minutes for VAR to decide on a supposed clear and obvious error, and when the ref wanted to look at a monitor, was told it was broken! You couldn't make it up.

Second penalty, two players offside in the build up, but deemed not offside because they didn't touch the ball even though both gained an advantage and one of the players was pulled back. The offside rule is a farce in certain situations, and VAR could prove to cause more controversy than it will clear up

Spurs are being utterly shelled in Dortmund, but a combination of Lloris and poor finishing has Dortmund still to score. Its a minor miracle they havent. If they get one early enough, its plausible Spurs could crumble...... Dortmund have been so dominate, I could see them smashing a few in.

Meanwhile, Ajax are 2-0 up in Madrid.... now that would be a massive upset if it stays that way.

While Dortmund have missed about 123 chances over the two legs, Kane gets one chance, the keeper is picking it out the net.

Tottenham have given Dortmund a lesson in finishing this tie.

Ajax score a 3rd....

It goes to VAR, the ref looks at 900 replays, neither is conclusive. Then after 5 minutes, another angle appears, the ball clearly bounces behind the line for a throw in....

After the only conclusive shot, he then gives AJAX the goal.....

VAR already proving to produce so much debatable calls. The ball clearly bounced behind the line

From the angle I watched, the whole ball was not over the line, so the right decision was made. Unless we did not get the same view that others got to view

The very last angle he looked at, the ball bounced over the line on the floor, then bounced back up. I think by that stage he had seen 50 replays and must have been waiting for the shot to freeze frame, which it did after the ball had bounced and showed it inconclusively in the air.

Check the below link..... pictures will show you the last angle, the ball is clearly out.

The whole ball has to be over the line, I'm not sure that is the case. Unless there is a different law in European matches?

The ball can bounce outside the line, but if any of the ball is above the line then as i understand the FA rules, the ball is in? Looking at those pictures, i would say the ball was in.

But that could be 1966 all over again. Certainly for me not conclusive.

There is daylight between the ball and the line. There are several shots on the article, have you seen them all? The one I am referring to is halfway down the article. I can see no way that it could be in.

yep, i would say its not conclusive. the only way you could overturn it would be to have the camera angel down the line.

There's no way you can tell if that ball was 100% out from that picture.

Spurs go through, can Liverpool do the same in Germany?

As for tonight, I'd be surprised to see Utd come back!

Scored after 90 seconds... horrible error from the Paris defender, just passes it straight back to Lukaku, who just slots it in after rounding the keeper.

Game on.

Yeah, cant see it myself. Paris have looked dangerous since going behind. Man United are seriously down in midfield, I cant see them keeping a clean sheet all night....

Well, unless PSG take their chances like Dortmund
