Indeed. Payet brought back memories of Zidane 1998 with that midfield display, he was incredibly all night, then pulls of that wonder strike.

Other than that, France looked pretty subdued, but its easy to forget that they did create quite a lot of good chances..... Giroud just missed them all until the keeper gave him that present. Must have felt sorry for him.

Do France have a deadly enough striker upto for a tight knockout game? And will their injury ravaged defence be able to keep better teams out?

I still think it will take a pretty good display to knock the home guys out.

I can see why picked them Sussex. France looked very good and very attractive. Their defence is a little shaky though.

I work with a nice friendly Slovakian, so tempting to see how her countryfolk get on. But even at my football watching peak, two in a day caused my eyes to glaze over in the second. Although I've probably never tried it sober.
