Its my belief you cant book someone for simulation if they do get contact.... it wasnt a theatrical fall and he didnt appeal.... Jovetic calling for Glen Johnson to get booked was more worthy

I can't believe this is such a media story...it's not like the football captain decides who's to open the bowling, how to set the field, when to declare, whether to enforce the follow on, etc.

The football captain is nothing more than a PR job....

Most countries just allow their most-capped player to captain the side.

It all seems different in England though. It's like a huge honour. Maybe this is down to Bobby Moore but I don't know. It was only as far back as the 50s when we didn't even have a proper England manager - the team was selected by committee.

Reason number 551 why English football continues to lag behind German football....

Captains should be chosen for football reasons only, not their ability to handle questions from the press, and pretend to be lily-white. Have the media already chosen to forget how badly a drunken Lampard and a few other Chelsea footballers behaved towards American tourists in a Heathrow hotel during 9/11?

No footballer is perfect....
