Three wins in a row, three clean sheets in a row.
I still dont understand how the hell they got him on the cheap
He didn't want to join Newcastle or Palace this window, he was happy to wait until the end of the season. And he was never going to join West Ham after Sullivan's negative comments about him in the summer. Had we not bid for him, he would have stayed at QPR. But we did bid - and consequently he can move back home (Poole to Southampton isn't exactly the longest commute in the world!). He's also mentioned a quite a lot in the past few days about how impressed he has been with us and our progress over the past five or six years - he's pretty much followed it first hand, having regularly gone up against us with Swindon, then Burnley, then QPR.
As for the price, well QPR took the gamble to reject £15m in the summer and instead hope that he fired them back to the PL - which would be worth a whole lot more than £15m. But it's clearly not worked, they're having an average season, so £4m and Charlie off the wage bill is a whole lot better than nothing in four months time.
