There are a lot of talented names in that Argentine team, and this was probably their best chance of a major international medal. Messi and Co's international record does not measure up to the other international greats yet.....

As for Chile, well who is surprised at how they played the final. The Wimbledon of international football?

Martino is a terrible manager. He ruined Barcelona last season and now is doing the same to Argentina.

The debate over Messi v Maradona will still go on for some but the crazy thing is if Higuain buries those two simple chances (World Cup and today) then Messi goes down as undoubtedly the greatest ever. Probably just easier to just watch them and judge them with your eyes than go on statistics.

When comparing the 2 I have always seen Messi at his best for Barcelona. But then one needs to look at who he has been playing with in that team. Half the Spain starting 11 who won 2 european cups and one world cup. Jason Lee would probably look good in that Barcelona team :rasta Also his record against his peers is comparable in Spain to another player(Ronaldo), and at international level is no better than Wayne Rooney, and i reckon on paper Argentina have a better team than England.

What Marodona did with Napoli and a much worse Argentina team suggests something more. Some would say drugs.....

Its a great debate to have, but Messi will need to do something with Argentina otherwise question marks will always remain, and these will be loudest in Argentina. Perhaps when people want to label someone the best there will be other people always trying to find ways to discredit those statements?

Di Maria went off with what looks like his hamstring so he could miss the start of the new season.

Good stuff by the England Ladies, just a shame the media are milking it to the maximum.

"England medal winners since 1966" reads one newspaper headline, does the Commonwealth Games or England Womens 2009 Cricket World Cup success not count then :facepalm

Oh yes, just so I can say Hope Solo is not the best American goalkeeper on the field ;)

I only saw the first 20 minutes but saw four goals.

I thought the USA would get 20 the way it was going.
