Germany's reserves are 4-0 up against the 10th ranked team in the world - Ecuador. Only a quarter of the match gone. Madness.

Well done Cole, the best English left back I have ever seen. 100 caps and i cant remember him ever bailing on England. Always there and ready to be picked, and Englands most consistent performer over the last 10 years.

Here here!

Cant believe it was 13 years ago since Ashley scored against Bradford in the Premier League, where has the time gone?

Wish I'd stuck a tenner on the England result. The matches between these two always seem to end 1-1 and I got as far as putting that result in SkyBet but didn't get around to putting funds down. 15/2 as well. :angry

I really don't understand England's team selection. It seems you can be an average player on poor form for one of the 'big' clubs and get picked, whereas a player on great form for an average Premier League team gets overlooked. My XI:

Hart
Clyne, Jones, Cahill, Baines.
Lampard (c), Cork.
Walcott, Wilshere, Zaha.
Sturridge.

Lambert, Rooney, Pucheon, Caulker, Shaw, Butland among the substitutes.

I'd play Rooney but maybe in midfield, and have Walcott, Wellbeck and Defoe up front. Rooney looks lost up front.

I agree with you GG, and not just because you have half the Southampton squad in there.

I actually think Wilshere is massively overrated though.

Defoe and Welbeck based on what ? they rarely perform at club level.

Who else? Lambert? To be fair, both have done ok for England, and although Wellbeck has a first touch like he has a brick in his boot, he does have pace.

Chamberlain up front? Nothing to do with Southampton of course?

The cupboard is fairly bare with top strikers. I like Defoe. Probably the best finisher and is superb in the box. Maybe Crouchy should come back? 22 goals in 42 games, most as a sub. Superb stuff.

Funny you say that, because I don't actually like Chamberlain, since him and his Dad forced the move when the club didn't want to sell

( unlike Walcott and Bale who were forced out for financial reasons )

As far as local talent goes, Southampton have a lot. Really like Cork and Clyne, immense players. Saints will do well to hold on to them in the next couple of seasons.

Wilshere is definitely a bit overrated but he has something no other English cm has; intricate short passing combined with decent pace which means he can drop deep and pick up the ball in order to counter quickly. Got a great football brain too. Can be world class if he stays fit.

Wilshere can glide past players like Gazza use to. Needs to add some goals/assists to his game though.
