Reports of racist abuse aimed at an Oldham player by some of the Liverpool fans at Anfield tonight. Some real charmers knocking around up there at the moment it seems.

20 year old Tom Adeyemi was in tears after being subject to racist abuse from a small group of fans. :no :(

Here's more on that story....

You do wonder if Liverpool's misguided defence of Suarez had something to do with this.

I think there may be Mike.

It might be best for Liverpool if they issued a statement apologising for the T-shirt incident and push home the message that they do not tolerate racism of any kind.

All Liverpool FC can do is identify the culprit, whilst the police catch said culprit and the justice system issue a punishment and banning from sports stadia.

Turns out theres already an arrest

Good to see that he's been caught, but if the authorities think this is an incident involving just one fan/moron, then they might just be fooling themselves....

I've stopped going to football matches simply because quite a few of the so-called fans make me feel very uncomfortable, and unsafe. That's partly because fans have to be segregated according to what team they support for safety reasons, and partly because I suspect that quite a few fans are inherently racist, and just waiting for an opportunity to express it in a violent or aggressive way. In contrast, I feel safe and comfortable going to cricket matches and athletics meets in this country. You can sit in the midst of fans supporting opposing teams and players, cheer as loud as you want for your favourite players or athletes, and still have good-natured banter with opposing fans beside you.

I think the amount of tweets Stan Collymore got suggests we are a long way from kicking racism out of football....and society.

"Police are investigating after a "malicious communication" - reportedly containing a bullet - was sent to Queens Park Rangers' training ground. The Met would not reveal the letter's contents or the intended recipient. The Fulham Chronicle says the bullet was sent in a letter addressed to QPR defender Anton Ferdinand. QPR play Chelsea in the FA Cup at Loftus Road on Saturday for the first time since John Terry was charged with racially abusing Ferdinand."

Chelsea fans really are charmers. I believe they did similar when Stephen Hunt entirely innocently injured Peter Cech a few years ago.
