In fact, three of Rooney's penalties are against San Marino, and 4 have been scored in the last year (2 x San Marino, 1 x Norway and 1x Slovenia)

What did you bet, 10k?

Nah, 500 on England HT/FT. Hardly ever bet but thought this was basically free money.

£500?

That is easy money, but I still wouldn't have risked it.

Me neither. It should be a cert but daft things can happen.

Didn't San Marino hold us to half time a few years ago?

Me neither, can you imagine 0-0 after 40 minutes, unnecessary stress!

That very dodgy penalty certainly relieved the stress!

Might be a bit more likely than that. He'll probably just end up with an MBE or OBE.

He'd have to win the WC first.

Actually no because then you'd get me started on how piss-poor Bobby Moore was treated by football after he retired from playing.

Never happened, no.

They were close then. Unless I'm thinking of another minnow. Scotland?

Wayne Rooney will have to captain us to world cup or European glory to get knighted, and that won't happen.

The main one I can think is Macedonia getting a draw before the 2002 world cup, 2-2, match played in Sunderland or Middlesbrough.

No, it was a qualifier three/four years ago at Wembley. I think the said team lasted till about 40 minutes.
