Yes, footman, two from each group, plus the four best third place teams.

I have a sneaky feeling that Italia '90 was 24 teams with 3rd placers going through

might be kismet

I think so. Didn't Holland, Ireland, and ourselves go through from our group?

It was a terrible World Cup if truth be told, very low scoring, lots of poor games and a dreadful final.

It was pretty dull, but this was my first world cup which included going to the pub and watching the England games, so it holds great memories. England scraping their way to the semis did gloss over tournament as a whole.

I think England getting through to the semis masked how bad it was. England were pretty terrible as well, the only game where they played pretty decently was the game they eventually went out in.

I must admit I'd be happy if England played dull football but still won the tournament.

Won't happen though. Well not the second part anyway.

I'd kinda prefer us to play good attacking Football and go out in the QF's.

I'm just sick of us dining out on 1966 forever.

Yep and I can't see it ending soon.

It doesn't matter to me the way it used to when I was a youngster.

It would be nice to win, but I'm not overly bothered.

Probably change my view if we make the final and lose on penalties. The TV would end up with a boot hole in it I expect.

If it went to penalties I'd have to leave the room.

Wouldn't be able to stand it.

A James Milner pen to win Euro 16.

Leicester have more chance of winning the Premier League. Oh wait....

No Diego Costa in the Spanish squad. They either must have some decent strikers or still play just the one if he's being left at home. Not that I think he's a great player.

As I keep on saying.... the premier league is full of quality overseas players who can't get into their international sides, whereas the England national team is full of players who struggle to get into their club side
