McManaman? Volley wasn't it?

He also scored a great solo effort against Celtic, when playing for Liverpool. Mind you that is like me saying I scored a great goal against the Aylesbury under 7's team!

That was the goal! It was Celtic, not Bolton..... :thumb

Although I seem to remeber it being very good, but that he didnt do much more than run into huge amounts of space? I might be wrong, but thats the memory I have.... taking it from his own half and maybe beating one man, but largely running at a retreating defence.

No Messi vs Getafe..... that goal (probably 9-10 years ago now) left me speechless when I saw it live. Gets the ball at the halfway line, takes on 4 defenders and the goalie, slots it in. Wonderful effort that.

You might be right about the McManaman goal?

Your post reminds me of the Ricky Villa goal, in the cup final. Listen to people talk about it and you'd think he took on five defenders, when it was more like three. Good goal, on a great occasion.

The first two touches to beat the first two defenders are insane. Paredes once said (the first defender he beats) that he didnt know what happened, that he literally didnt know it was possible for Messi to beat him. He apparently still wonders years after.

For some reason I cant see the link (my work laptop blocks the link as dodgy). Which game/goal was it?

I searched for the McManaman one. He beats one guy on pure pace after knocking it past him, runs 60 yards without really a challenge, and curls it past the keeper from 20 yards. One other person goes to tackle him but falls over.

Still a blinding goal

The goal in the copa del rey final, against Athletic Bilbao.

:o How have I never seen that before.

Man marked by 3 people, beats the first, beats the second, dummys the other out of existance, beats a fourth for good measure and slams it in from a tight angle.

He is not only the best player thats ever lived, hes better than the next best 5 put together.

Probably right, but it's still a dull award when the same two players win it for the past nine years.

I see Jamie Vardy was eighth.

To be fair there's no-one comes close to Messi or Ronaldo.

Chealski seemed to have found a new revenue stream by selling fringe players to Chinese clubs.

Oscar going for 60 mil and £400,000 a week wages.

Following Ramires who went for over 20 mil.

the money in chinese football atm is just insane

shows a bit of a lack of ambition to go there tho imo, guys like oscar are already set for life, how much money do you actually need?

ok he isn't getting regular football with chelsea but the level of competition in china cant be fulfilling from a pure sporting point of view

It should be like Wisden cricketers of the year.
