tbh, I didn't think he'd still be at the club last Christmas, and he was, so perhaps he'll stay a little while yet. He won't walk, I don't think, because of this supposed buy out clause in his contract, but the first decent club who show an interest, and they'll doubtless be perfectly happy to pay it and he'll doubtless be happy to go, so the only thing that might keep him at the club is if they start winning matches and get themselves in a decent position in the table

Yeah, Rafa will stay put until a job of interest becomes available. But, after Real, is there any jobs out there that would interest him? He's not going to get another top level job, lets be honest he took the Newcastle job because his career had come to a stall at the top level, unless his proves it at a smaller club that he still got it.

Are a Crystal Palace or West Ham, most likely to sack their managers first, going to be a step up?

Personally think he is going to stay till end of the year. See if a few jobs at the top become available.

I don't imagine he'd go anywhere near Palace or WH. He'd risk getting a reputation like Allardyce or Rednapp and who would want that?

Marriage of convenience for both, I think. A year in a team who were almost certain to come back up easily, a well supported and very well known club for Rafa to claim success at.... for Ashley, a manager who could set some positive things in motion for the future, who would no doubt work for not very much, and whom's skill in the transfer market and reputation could attract a few decent signings.

Obviously, the marriage wasnt meant to last this long. Rafa should have got another job, and Ashley should be forcing some poor young manager looking to prove something to spend nothing to keep them up. Such a challenge is probably below Rafa.

Shame though, as in Rafa Newcastle have a guy who might just transform the club in 5 years if he had at least something to keep him there. I guess Ashley is such a tosser, he doesnt care.
