68% of the English football fans don't give a stuff about the team anymore or who manages it.

Didn't watch more than 90 seconds of the game last night, and I actually sat and enjoyed the Scotland game because I couldn't care less who won.

I would appoint Southgate...i was *modded* off when they gave him the job..but he's done what's been asked of him, the players like him, may as well give him the job, can't do any worse than those gone before him.... except Sam who has a 100% win record

there were a few (just a few) glimpses of things that were good against Spain. Clever passes, little interchanges of passing, little bits of genuine vision and invention....... things that might suggest progress, were it not for the fact that England did the basics really, really badly. I think it's the continual back passes to the keeper that ssip me off the most. It's completely pointless because it invariable means that England give the ball back to the opposition.... they might as well cut out the middle man and just boot the ball to the opponents midfielders. At one point Dier (I think it was Dier) as the most defensive England player, but still 5 yards into the opposition half, turned around and kicked the ball back 50 yards to Joe Hart. What was the *modded* point of that? apart from demonstrating that he hadn't got a clue what to do with the ball, of course. Naturally Hart lumped the ball back up the pitch and Spain got the ball back. We had every outfield player in Spain's half, for crying out loud

That England managed to draw a game that they were 2-0 up with 88 minutes gone, was entirely unsurprising

good to see Vardy back in the goals, because he blooming well needed that. Nice goal celebration too

Sterling needs to learn how to pass the ball

and despite England conceding 2 late goals, they were much better against Spain without Rooney, than they were against Scotland with him

Actually Southgate has never succeeded. He might do ok, as in qualify for Russia.

And by unproven, you mean he took a team that had spent 11 seasons comfortably safe in the Premier League and relegated them in his first full season, was sacked after they were looking pretty average in the Championship, and doesnt even have the "didnt have investment excuse" because Middlesbrough paid nerly 20 million for one player who would end up playing in the Qatari Division 2 within 18 months, at a time when only a handful of transfers in British history had exceeded this mark, and the transfer record for the league was only 30 million.

In those three years he proved to be a terrible manager, have a terrible eye for a player, had no tactical clue whatsoever, and failed so badly he ended up taking a role at the FA that is usually reserved for the mediocre managers who have no future.... probably because no team would offer him a contract.

Just when you think the national team couldnt get any worse, they bring this TURNIP in!!

When the team is so mediocre, the clubs they play for are so overly dependent on foreign players to provide the necessary craft and guile, and the league the clubs compete in is completely unfit for the purpose of developing and promoting young British talent, I doubt it really matters who the FA appoint as England manager. They'd have as much chance of winning a knockout match if they appointed any old piece of cr@p as manager................. which, of course, they have.

I just hope he's cheap.

Now that Durham have gotten themselves in financial difficulties, they can't afford Peppa Pig and have had to release her........ She'd have been as good a choice as anyone
