Wonder who they'll replace him with. Martin O'Neil? Or go abroad again? Coleman can't have a lot of job security at the moment.

Would that be Konoplianka, sussex? The left winger? He was the best player on the park I thought, Walker struggled up against him. This isn't the same Ukraine side that had Shevchenko, Husin, Rebrov, Tymoschuk etc.

It was indeed him. I find his name a minor fascination having watched the game on ESPN for the second half with Ukrainian graphics after not being able to stand Andy Townsend any longer. In Ukrainian his name is spelt "Konopljanka", in Russian its would be "Konoplyanka" but on his shirt he had "Konoplianka"..... seems he cant spell his name :dance

I actually think it was a mistake from the person who submitted the team sheet because Andriy Pyatov was also named "Piatov" in the match and Zozulya "Zozulia"...... The Cyrillic "?" should be "ya" or "ja" depending on where in the old Soviet Union you are. Maybe Brave can correct me or maybe I am unaware of some linguistic rules with the connection of the letters....

Sorry this has nothing to do with football, its just how my mind works ... :coat

You are right Sussex but I do believe that scholars prefer to use ia for ? now. I think it is to do with it giving a more true transliteration. Presumably his name is ?????????? or something similar. Rendering the ? as ya would in English give Kono-ply-anka. So English readers would emphasise the y sound as in fly, try, cry. Whereas ia gives a truer transliteration to the Russian/Ukrainian.

Seems Martin O Neill is nailed on for the ROI job.

Then again he tends to be in the frame every time there's a vacancy.

Bit surprised so many people seem happy about O'Neill being linked, seeing as how he is Northern Irish, or maybe that doesn't matter anymore ?
