JT was charged for using a racial term, hence bringing the game into disrepute. Anton Ferdinand may have made offensive comments and yes he isn't an all innocent victim, however none of them included potentially racist language.

A mountain has been made out of a molehill with the current issues in racism, it's not as if the authorities have swept it under the carpet.

Forming black players associations and employing Rooney rule is only going to send the sport backwards and create resentment. With 92 football league clubs, managerial vacancies are fiercely contested in the modern game and plenty of prolific managers are out of work (Alan Curbishley, Paul Jewell, Owen Coyle, Kenny Dalglish, Peter Taylor, Sven Goran Eriksson, Gary Waddock to name a lot)
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott

and more legal support and expertise after alleged failings in the support of striker Mark McCammon, whom an industrial tribunal found was unfairly sacked by Gillingham

The Gills chairman is currently working on a legal appeal, which should they see sense, will see that decision overturned. For a start, McCammon was not "sacked" by Gills, that is a fact. His contract was not extended at the end of its three year tenure.

When he signed in 2008 already in his 30's McCammon was the highest paid player in the squad, in a team that was 13million in debt and had to sell it stadium to keep afloat. His return in 3 seasons as a centre forward was a paltry 5 goals, and as a 33 year old striker past his best his services were no longer needed.... he has since played for 4 different clubs in about a year and scored only 3 goals at a lower level, so its not like Gills released Didier Drogba.

At the same time Gills were forced to release Alan Julian who had played virtually all the games that season because they had been offered to buy back the rights to their stadium for a million pounds, and they therefore had to release players at the end of their contract to fund its purchase despite people like Mark Bentley being Gills Stalwarts over many years. This seems to explain why at the time the team sought to get treatment for the player on the NHS to save costs, but the court seen that other players previous to this who had their treatment privately funded made this unfair and the difference was skin colour.

McCammon also complained that he didnt receive any medical treatment from the club because he was black, but then complained when the club fined him for not turning up in the snow because he missed treatment sessions, and even complained that he was forced to stay after hours to rehabilitate when others had gone home. His argument was that other white players in the team werent forced to turn up in the snow, but apparently McCammon lived within walking distance of the training ground along with a few black colleagues who were also fined.

The player also seems to have sealed his fate when he told the manager he thought he was racist, and both ended up in fisticuffs, having to have the assistant manager break up the fight in the managers office.

Not really the behaviour of a sensible player!! And tbf, surely a player who has no future at a club maybe treated unfairly, but I fail to see why this is because he is black? It would be like Bebe complaining of unfair treatment over someone like Rooney because one gets treated differently.... first team players no doubt earn a certain amount of respect and preferential treatment, and no doubt the club were disappointed with McCammon because they had signed him on a big wage and seen nothing in return.

So if a club a clearly wanting to get rid of a player who has failed and arent going to use him ever, especially if they are cash strapped, why should they pour resources into him ?

We are going to reach a stage where a white player fouling a black player will be bradished a racist at this rate.

Calling people names is not against the rules. Using a racist term to refer to them is. If you genuinely can't see the difference then I'd say that's your problem, not Ferdinands.

I can see the difference, I take offence with Ferdinand trying to take the morale high ground and acting like an innocent victim, when he started the name calling.

JT taking it too far is irrelevant.

now we got chelsea accusing mark clattenberg of making racist remarks to john obi mikel

where is this one going to end up, the ref has a mic on but it isn't recorded anywhere but both linesmen and the 4th official would have heard whatever he said

got a bad feeling this is going to end up a no-win situation, if he did say something racist then hes finished as a referee and it just adds more fuel to the current debate, if the other officials defend him they will probably be accused of just covering up for him

I have my belief in why this has surfaced, but I will say this... if Chelsea are subsequently found to have wrongly branded Mark Clattenburg a racist then they should be kicked out of the Premier League this season. It seems too much of a coincidence that a referee has a terrible game against them and these allegations coming out, and it is constructive cheating to try to influence referees future decisions by letting them know any future decisions may lead to accusations of a serious personal level.

I am all for whistleblowing for racists, and I think the fact that Juan Mata is apparently one of those that has complained of racist remarks proves that Mikes idea of a black only victim in the racism debate is complete and utter rubbish( a white spaniard playing in england is as much on the front line as a black player) , but I also think that in this instance this is simply some sort of payback to the referee for his shambolic performance... and if unproven, the punishments have to be as harsh as can be.

A much better approach from SAF....

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foot ... rnalSearch

"I think Rio and his brother Anton have done the right thing there [with their statement on Wednesday]," he said ahead of Manchester United's Premier League match at Chelsea tomorrow. "I think it's bubbling along, that race issue. It's not completely gone away. But the thing is the awareness is getting stronger and the PFA [Professional Footballers' Association] are, I'm sure, doing their best to support it. The Football Association has to do more with Uefa and Fifa."

And a very good interview with Thuram....

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foot ... 28810.html

"It could be a positive change" he says of the Professional Footballers' Association's proposed version of the NFL's rule that would ensure a minimum proportion of black candidates on the list of interviewees for management jobs. "The most dangerous situation you can have is when before any process of selection starts there are certain people who are already ruled out. A black man can be a player because that is something that everyone expects and accepts; but the idea of a black man as the coach creates a doubt in people's mind. If you create a situation where black people have to be considered, then you are putting the question in people's heads: why? Why is there an intellectual doubt over a black man being a manager? If it takes people beyond this subconscious conditioning to not see black people in charge of a team then it can only be positive."

And on why racial abuse must be treated seriously....

"The overweight have never been denied the vote, enslaved or segregated. The historical baggage that comes with the abuse is important. You need to be able to say to the perpetrators – 'you can't do this,' but you also need to say why."

Everything said by referees is on an open microphone which can be heard by the 4th official and both linesman.

People doubted Ashley Coles evidence saying that he would back up his friend, the same logic can be applied here.
