All in all the England squad is pretty much as I expected. I'd have had Barry for Lampard and wouldn't have taken Welbeck, but Roy was always going to take the pair of them. I'd have done everything to get Terry in there too.

For the Italy game I'd go: Hart, Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines. Chamberlain, Wilshere, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling. Sturridge. But I think the team will be that back 5, then Milner, Gerrard, Henderson and Welbeck with Rooney behind Sturridge.
A man convinced against his will is a man of the same opinion still.

Hart; Johnson, Jagielka, Cahill, Baines; Gerrard, Henderson; Lallana, Rooney, Sterling; Sturridge would be my XI.

Hodgson did contact him and ask him to re-consider, he declined.

That Ray Wilkins character criticises Luke Shaw for a lack of defensive attributes, surely he can't be worse than Glen Johnson who has no positional sense.

Looks as though Roy took my advice and got rid of most the old stagers. :rasta

I haven't seen a full squad list yet, but I'm already impressed. (apart from Welbeck, obviously)

Nasri's easily good enough to get in so looks like the French Football Federation still have a problem with Nasri after the 2010 debacle.

No Tevez in the Argentina squad. Shame that the coach has a problem with him and refuses to pick him. Also, no Willy Caballero, Pastore, Icardi, Lamela, Fazio, Musacchio but Franco Di Santo is in...

God knows why. Criticise Shaw's offensive game by all means (no goals all season, and I'm struggling to think of even one assist - the kid really needs to learn how to cross a ball, although he is very comfortable running with the ball), but his defensive game is as good as any full back around. And considering he's just 18, that is quite something.

Sensationally good defensively.
