Howard 'bestrefinengland' Webb commands £4K for an after dinner speech, apparently

I'd have thought a battery of controversial decisions was a prerequisite for a successful career on the after dinner circuit

Alviro Patterson wrote:Howard Webb not awarding Luis Suarez a penalty in the FA Cup game against Arsenal is probably the funniest thing i've seen in football.

If a defender pulled out a machete and chopped off Suarez's legs in the box, I still wouldn't give that cheating *modded* a penalty

The only disappointment was Howard "Best Ref in England" Webb didn't give a free kick and book Suarez for simulation.

I know Suarez isn't perfect, far from it, but that was a blatant pen. Webb not giving that raises questions on his eyesight or worse, his reasons.

Lots of players get reputations that directly affect the way they are treated by refs. Some for violent challenges like Barton or Cattermole, some for being outright cheats like Suarez, or for diving like Ashley Young

They get what they deserve, for me. Sometimes the decision is harsh on the player concerned.... but there you go!

Oh yes, I bet Suarez get more decisions by deception than those overlooked.
